http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34024188 Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has named seven first-team players who have underperformed in the club's worst Premier League start in 17 years. The champions go to West Brom on Sunday after picking up only one point from their first two games. "I'm not happy with anyone," Mourinho, who also criticised himself, said. "I'm not happy with Branislav Ivanovic's form, Gary Cahill, John Terry, Cesar Azpilicueta, Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas, Nemanja Matic." Mourinho added: "I'm not happy with my form because I used to get better results than I'm getting now." -------------------------------------------------------------- This could be a great way of motivating the senior players or it could go very wrong, thoughts?
It's a tightrope though, some may get motivated some might get pissed off with being singled out. We'll see how it has worked pretty soon I suppose.
At least he included himself. As Bodanki has suggested, there is something going on behind the scenes, and at the risk of boring everyone rigid, I'll repeat the oldest sporting anecdote known to man, when it's bad on the pitch it's because it's bad off the pitch. Hope the new players lift the cloud over the Bridge, and we see the real team again.
I thought Mourinho was meant to do his best to keep attention away from his team? He ran out of people to point the finger at I guess.
Pure psychology, including himself. Us, we, the team, one for all and all for one. It is simple really yet some managers still yell till they are purple and disaffect half the squad. A manager is a man manager. Tactics and training don't really have a great amount of scope to merit the hiring of a rocket scientist.
All depends on what he is saying in private to the players, Jose has two things in common with Fergie, they are/were both winners and they both know/knew how to build a siege mentality.
One would trust he just uses honesty, whether encouraging or disciplining, but you don't really hear of Chelsea players being fined or suspended by the club. If you think a player isn't performing you ask them the question, you ask them to find the answers. That way if they don't like the answers they know it isn't down to the manager.
