We have been linked with the Brazilian centre-forward Pato....does anyone think that he would be a "next-level" signing??Pato must be better than paxo....seeing that we have been stuffed in our first two games
er news Sunderland yet to make formal offer for Alexandre Pato but Corinthians say he WILL move this summer 0 COMMENTS 13:35, 20 AUGUST 2015 BY JACK LANG Galatasaray are also interested in the former AC Milan star, who has rediscovered his form on loan at Sao Paulo Getty Images please log in to view this image For sale: Corinthians are looking to cash in on Pato Sunderland have yet to make a formal offer for former Brazil striker Alexandre Pato. The Black Cats are among a number of sides to have emerged as suitors for the former AC Milan man, who has been playing in his homeland since 2013. Pato joined Corinthians in a deal worth £12.1million but has been on loan at Sao Paulo since early 2014 after a poor spell of form. But a recent revival has brought him back onto the European radar. Sunderland have sold Connor Wickham to Crystal Palace and face a fight to keep Jermain Defoe in the north east. Pato, who would cost in the region of £7million, could boost their forward line. Corinthians president Roberto de Andrade says he has yet to receive a concrete bid for the forward, but says he is hopeful of cashing in on Pato's fine recent form. "It could be a good transfer window for us. It's a good opportunity [because] he's playing well. "I think we have a great chance of selling him. I don't have a crystal ball but I believe it will work out." De Andrade confirmed that Turkish giants Galatasaray have made an enquiry for the 25-year-old, who appears to have shaken off the injury woes that marred his time in Italy. "They did contact us," he added. "But as the figure was less than €10million (£7.1million). We won't talk for any less than that."
He is definitely a next level signing, if he can get and stay fit he would be an outstanding acquisition IMHO.
Agent talk I reckon. I'd be delighted if we got him though. A clearly talented player who went off the boil a bit. Next level signing regardless.
This would be an amazing signing. The reason they are desperate to get rid is he is currently on loan with their biggest rivals. He has hit form and has been playing superbly so they want him away so he cannot help their rivals finish above them in the league. Source for above was Tim Vickery. More than anything a signing like this would get the fans back on side. He is that attacking midfielder we need to play at the point on the 3 in the middle.
There's always a little more to each story than meets the eye. Its little nuggets of detail like this that can change perception of the deal. If they come off, this guy and de Guzman both signing in the next day or so would calm some frayed nerves a little. Obviously still all rumour and speculation, but when is it any less so?
Need time to settle. Get used to the pace of the Prem blah blah. No doubt he.s a good player but apart from Arca.
It's a risk but not a big risk. He scored 51 goals in 117 games for AC Milan which is a great record in Italy but there were injuries and a loss of form. However his form is back, he's not suffered from much for a while and the price seems very reasonable. The question is: Do you think he's good enough to keep Fletcher and Graham out of the team?
How do you know we haven't? How do you know we haven't enquired earlier in the window and told to come back later? We don't now anything. That's a fact fella. The transfer window is bit more intricate then just bidding on a player we wan't. So much is out of hands. We may not even be interested with him.
I have to agree! "He's now playing well so hopefully we can get a bit of money for him" sounds like they wish they had never bought him.
Only time will tell. I've just lost a lot of faith in our dealings since all Advocaat's spending money appears to be materialising in loans and very cheap buys. As much as I'd love to see Pato here I can't help but think there's nothing there to buy him with. Just a feeling and fingers crossed I'm wrong.
Aye, almost everything is just random guessing. We know there's some money, basic maths tell us that. Connor money, money saved by getting Kaboul instead of Lombaerts and of course the Fer money which hasn't been used. Doubt there's masses of money but there's defo some. Just a wage bill and of course selling clubs the players themselves and their representatives slowing movement i'd guess.
I'd love to see us have the ambition to go out and sign a player with Pato's pedigree but at the minute I just haven't got any confidence in the club to pull something like this out of the bag (I'd be very happy to be proven wrong here). In the article above it seems like his club only want to sell and we seem to be only interested in loans at the minute so I can't see this having much truth in it at all unfortunately.
