So you reckon Barca were desperate to sell Pedro at the price leaving them with inexperience cover, so much so that they deliberate took an offer they deemed unacceptable to United but now acceptable to Chelsea? Its a better than UIRs conjecture that Barca wanted him for a few extra days and that caused United not to buy.

It's blatant that the player chose Chelsea over United and thats that. United who are famous for over paying for all their players suddenly had a change of heart on 1.4m which is basically chump change. I'm not having that

 

Nah, the muppets on here tend to do that on their own. We just have to laugh. Point is there's some irony at pointing to UIR to be balanced when there's a couple on here who are the same.

 

Explain why we "low bidded" on another player a week ago?
Why did we make a not so low bid on Muller a week ago as well?
How did Chelsea get away with the exact same payment we offered?

Maybe Pedro said "Victor tells me they are mean and make you play U21s to stay match fit"

There is definitely some element of that, Valdes whinging won't have helped either. The facts remain we bid on two other players the week before and pulled out of this one when we had had enough messing around.

 

Cant argue with any of that. I don't think we have a hope in hell with Muller, Mane would probably cost £20m+

Its quite obvious Barcelona have ****ed us about. I will say it again... Claiming they need him for another week is messing about. Its taking the piss and United got fed up about it.

Barcelona then likely panicked and whore'd him out. Chelsea saw an opportunity to pounce and did so, by paying the same.

you will NOT get him for less than 30mil

its really really close to the end of the window and you would throw them into chaos... they should charge you a big fortune for that.

 

That's my point. You are insinuating in your previous point when you say Barca got desperate when you pulled out and then whored him out to us at the same price in order to get rid of him. I'm suggesting that isn't the case and that Pedro simply did not want to go to Man U and chose Chelsea as i cannot see Man United haggling over 1.4m over Pedro .

The other reason could be Van Gaal pulling out but i don't believe that either. This deal had been on the cards for a while and for Woodward to fly out there to push the deal through only to last minute pull out reeks of Pedro not wanting to move to United.

 

Being reported Saints want £25m. Not a small amount thats for sure.

I'm pretty sure reading this stuff that someone was in for him and utd got a sniff and got out before they were made look even worse... they should have got out 2 weeks ago if it really was needed for super cup ****e.

I think bobbyd is closer to truth than not personally..... you guys keep telling me cheslea didn't meet buy out either so its not a straight utd were not willing to deal.

frankly.... 25mil is onoy the going rate in the prem to prem transfers.

the guy is 23 year sold, young, has worked in the prem, is looking their bes tplayer up front and fast.... and with 4 years left...

No club is broke in the prem. they are all awahs with cash so southampton just don't need the money so they'll drive a hard deal

Its 2 weeks to end.. and they could be bottom half here without him... they need to replace so if they can't you are paying big time.

 

So Barca fcked us around but then panicked and immediately sold him to Chelsea? Why would they fck United around but not Chelsea. Makes absolutely no sense.

Pedro was a well liked and respected player at Barca. By fcking United around they were fcking Pedro around.

Now lets look at the alternative...and please find a flaw in this:

1) Pedro moots a move away from Barca. He states that his reasons are to do with playing time not money. Everyone has no reason to doubt this is genuine.

2) United show interest, make several official approaches but no official bids.

3) After a whole month of tooing and froing Barca accept Pedro wants the move but INSIST they want the realease clause. Suggesting that United have mooted a lower offer.

4) Over the coming days it's reported United have offered 25m euros up front. And 5m euros as add ons. Barca want the full 30m euros.

5) Pedro is likely becoming a little frustrated. Somewhere around this period Chelsea enter the frame but Pedro is still only interested in United.

6) Ed Woodward then flies out on Monday and continues to negotiate on the 25m plus 5m add ons. No deal. Woodward flies home.

Now one of two things happened...

Either,

Van gaal had a change of mind and decided the deal or Pedro wasnt worth it.

Or

Barca are fed up of United pi55ing about.

In either scenario Pedro is now very disillusioned by United's aporoach to the whole deal. He isnt exactly feeling wanted is he? Chelsea come in with the full price, only it's been split to 28m plus 2m in separate payments for tax purposes but are NOT add ons. No fcking about, boom there it is. Barca & Pedro see their minerals and accept.

Have you ever bought a house mate? If you fck around with silly offers at some point the seller will get so fcked off that even if you go to full asking he'll prefer to sell to someone else. Even IF HAD gone to 28m plus 2m like you suggest, I wouldnt be surprised that when Chelsea showed an interest Barca said, match that and he's yours

 

I'm not doubting the circumstances and Saints bargaining power. But 25m for a relatively young unproven winger is too much imo.
