I was just reminiscing over the Players who have graced our beloved club over the years whom I missed when they left. I remember being heart broken as a kid when Toddo left, and over time the other Sunderland FAVORITES, HEROES AND GREATS... Hurley, Rowell, Owers, Gabbiadini, Ord, Julio, Quinny, SKP, Steed, Zenden, Bould, Magic Johnson, Schwartz, Hutchinson, just to mention a few and then I got to thinking which one's of our current crop of S**t would i miss if they went and to be Brutally Honest I think I would PARTY ON whoever left. It is a sad indictment of the current state of the club when you cannot name ONE player who you feel gives 100% effort and Skill every game, a Player who makes you come alive with excitement and expectation when he gets the ball at his feet or is raising above defenders to power a header on goal. Or Majestically scoops up the ball, or delivers a crunching tackle to end a period of defense and splays it across the park with the ease and self assurance of a man with confidence in his and his team mates ability to remain in total control of their environment. We are ALL aware of our current predicament but the questions are, What is the Problem, What are we doing to rectify the problem and How do we STOP it Happening Again. I Believe until the chequebook is used to buy Good proven players and not Relegated remnants jumping ship to ensure their 'Film Star' pay, or lower/foreign league players who look good and could possibly make it then we will continue to struggle! When was the last time we 'Out Muscled' another Club in a deal for a Good player who they didn't want to Sell? When was the last time we put a bid in that was exciting to the fans and actually got the Player we were after and not another 'Stopgap' as he didn't want to come? If only we could bring players to the club of similar standard and commitment as some of our former HERO's we would be truly happy. And then I Realized, This is SUNDERLAND!!! so it will never happen! Com'on Ellis Splash the Cash! You know it makes sense and 40,000+ ecstatic and grateful fans will forever be in you debt
Can't believe nobody's said it, Julio Arca. Probably my favourite ever SAFC player and it was a sad day when he left. Think he's back at the club in some capacity but if he is they certainly haven't made a big deal of it.
