Everton star Darron Gibson has been charged with crashing into a cyclist before driving off and crashing into a petrol pump while over the drink-driving limit.

The midfielder, 27, was arrested following the incident near his home in Altrincham, Cheshire, on Sunday night.

Gibson was reportedly driving his £125,000 Nissan Skyline GT-R Nismo sports car when he collided with a bike.

He faces charges of driving without due care and attention, driving with excess alcohol and failing to stop after a road traffic collision.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "He has been bailed to appear at Trafford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 1 September.

"This is in relation to an incident on Sunday 16 August where police were called to reports that a car had collided with a cyclist on Park Road, Trafford, and failed to stop before pulling into a petrol station on nearby Dunham Road and colliding with a pump."

I'd have wished it on Thatcher, but I'm quite happy she had a slow death with her in a dementia riddled state slavering all over the place while some poor unfortunate nurse had to change her nappy and wipe her arse

I am always optimistic, but I can see a bad one here, to many things to go wrong, tired players, Bamba getting another yellow/red, but hope I am wrong
