Why? Defoe is ****e! Has been ****e last 2 games! Can;t play in the gaffers preferred system so is a pointless asset - and £6m for a 32 year old is good money - I'd drive him there myself personally!

He's not very good a footballer though and we have very few who can put the ball where he needs it. We need players up top who will make things happen and he simply will not. Has looked truly awful for both games

If which it looks like it,s not working with him in the side, then 6 Million is a cracking deal. He has scored 1 from 2 though, as much as anything is not having anyone capable of setting things up, our. Supply tbh has been sh:t for last few seasons

We can't let him go without someone else lined up
Also, I doubt very much that Bournemouth are going to match his SAFC wage packet, so is he going to walk away from us or do we need to make up the shortfall to incentivise the move.

I personally would sell, £6 million would be great pulse he is probably our biggest wage earner. Obviously a replacement needs to be brought in of good quality that actually suits Dick's system.

The real problem of quality midfielders to provide service has yet to be addressed.

We now also have to fire fight regarding poor full backs.

If we come out of this window with a decent side now it will be a miracle.

True that. No striker is ever going to be prolific if they can`t get the right service. Our lot have been desperate for years.

if Defoe don't wanna be there, and let's face it he probably doesn't, then ship him out. There's already enough unrest in the camp.
It shows the difficulty of Congers job though, even if you can persuade them to come they soon want to be back down the M1.
Recruitment is our biggest problem and I don't know the answer.

I'll counter that argument with "So did Fletcher" and a kid who had only played 20 minutes of Premier League football.

He should've opened the scoring against Norwich smithy - 0-0 and 10 minute in and ball falls to him 16 yards out - he passes! To a player 4 yards offside! Shoot and miss if need be but have the balls to take it on - it's what you're paid for

He's had at least 5 chances in the first two games - He only got 2 shots away - one straight at the keeper after a shocking first touch - the other he scored - the rest he tried to pass! Why would a striker, reknowned for goalscoring, try to pass when he has the chance to score? Wickham got slated for being too greedy - I wish he'd had the ball for us in the positions Defoe has had this season - at least he'd have had a go instead of looking lost!

Looks like Pedro's off to Chelsea, so they'd have Costa, Pedro, Falcao and Remy.

Can't see Remy getting much game time, you should be in for him. He's not good enough for the top 4/5 teams, to rely on regularly.

True I think he should have scored vs Norwich but I think lens should have hit it first time really so there both to blame.

Tbh if we get a couple decent players in I won't be to bothered him going but we can't let him go until we've got a replacement 100% signed.. I've still got hope we'll get a couple good ones even if on loan.

I can see the attraction in effectively getting £6m for Jozy plus £70k per week off the wage bill but only if it`s put to better use. I have every expectation the club will make a complete cock up of things and we`ll end up worse off.

I would play Lens up front and sign a wide man, with Watmore and Mandron getting some play time, we have Fletch to cover the center forward role until he can be replaced with someone better. Brugge had some decent players on show last night and were robbed by a referee of a decent scoreline against Man U.

Well I've just backed Mourinho to walk, he said he didn't want Pedro (unless they're selling a winger, maybe Cuadrado) and Abramovic has just gone out and got him by the looks of it, he took Terry off to show he needs another centre half and he's not gonna get one (my heart bleeds).

This is why Jose ran off last time, undermined.

Chelsea are having trouble behind the scenes for sure.

Selling Defoe and Wickham on top of
Wickham will free a hefty part of our wage bill.

Defoe rumoured to be on 60-70k
    Wickham £50k
    Giacch £30

140-150k a week surely we could bring in 2 even 3 players that would improve us with that money.

Add to that Buckley, Bridcutt and Graham possibly all leaving on loan and wwe've freed up even more.

Roberge is said to be on a decent wage too. Hopefully we can shift him on too.

I think that the only answer is to improve the scouting network and academy. The club is not attractive enough for so called next level players so we would have to bite the bullet and work on bringing in potential and building on that. This is a less expensive risk and could (if done right) prove beneficial to the club both financially (sell on) whilst also improving our status in becoming more attractive, you also get players who want to play and improve. This however is a long term project and will infuriate fans when talent is sold on but if the production line is in place it will ultimately stabilise the club instead of throwing money at players year after year who are nothing more than mercenaries and ultimately end up with little to no sell on value mainly due to their age.

All you have to do is look at Southampton and ask yourselves how many had them to go down last season after their so called stars had been sold (all for decent money)? Anyway I'm sure the powers that be are already hard at work trying to achieve this!
