Nice one, did Plymouth play in green and black on that day? I have a vague memory of it. All during the three day week. That result was a real shock.

Must admit I had forgotten that Plymouth game, that was a shock......think they were in Green/Black strips.

I suppose we have to add the FA Cup quarter final against Leicester around the same time or Joe Walters day as it became known. Not that it was a bad game but because of the disappointment at losing 2-0 to them with that lad scoring twice on his debut, don't think he ever scored again. Plus that day Leicester only brought their change strip of all white, so the R's had to play in our change strip of Red shirts and we were never really successful in that kit.....

What the hell is an FA Cup quarter-final? :azn:

Apart from when we lost to Wimbledon circa 1998, when was the last time we even got that far?

Edit- I see we lost to United in the QF in 1995. Any memories from such a glorious cup run?

I am still scarred by that result. Still can't believe it to this day. We just didn't show up at all.

Not technically at Loftus Road, but the most bored I've ever been at a football game was away to Sheffield Wednesday about seven years ago. It was the middle of winter and we drew 0-0, but it felt like one of those games where both teams deserved to have points docked for being so utterly rubbish. Both myself and a Sheffield Wednesday supporting friend came home bored senseless...

EDIT - Having looked up our head to head history with them, I can't find any result at their place in recent history with a 0-0 scoreline. Scary stuff these false memories! Must have been when we lost 2-1...

Think i read somewhere years ago that the medical staff gave them a double dosage of sleeping pills the night before as the players were so nervous and it didn't get out of their systems in time hence the lethargic performance.......of course that may be utter tosh but it would explain an awful lot....

My sense is that it was the opposite and that the players were too complacent.

A lot of the bad memories have already been well documented on here already. From a personal point of view our game v Ipswich in 1992 springs to mind. We had a new recruit turn up at our fire station and he had mentioned that he didn't support a football team but wanted to find someone to follow. I gave him a big up on the Rs and said he could come to a match with me and how much he'd love it. The game was a nil nil complete and utter bore draw and lacked any atmosphere. He never went near a football ground ever again.

Just out of interest take a look at our home attendances for that season ( 92/93) This was the inaugural Premier League season when we finished 5th. Even the attendances for the away matches are surprising and a stark contrast to today's.

I am stunned by those attendances. Truly extraordinary when you consider the ticket prices today!

Also amazed, but there wasn't the football tourists that we have floating around the PL that are there now

That result came after we had beaten Sheffield Wednesday 8-2 in the previous round

That's right....forgotten that.....Peter Springett was in goal for them and didn't he walk off the pitch after the 8th goal went in and some outfield player had to go in goal for the last few minutes?

They were. I recall their winger rolling the ball in along the goal line form an impossible angle

I think we went 3-0 up then conceded 2 by half time, went mental in the 2nd half with 5 unanswered goals, cant remember if Springett went off but if he did it must have been with a bad back

Port Vale 1-3 in the league cup. Mainly because I was sitting a few rows behind the infamous mental, angry geezer.
