But that wouldn't be known to be true until the window closed, you know what I mean? For all we know the Defoe deal is to fund something else. Looks like we've made a move for this lad before Defoe bid has come in, we don't even know if there has been a bid or weather we've accepted it. It would be incredibly naive to say this lad is Defoe's replacement given the order of events.Dick said we needed two, if this lad is one of them, the other must be an attacking midfielder, if Defoe then leaves we'd need another. Anyone kicking off would need to stop and think about how daft they're being.

Well this would not surprise me as he does not fit the system. Then again he has never been given the chance to fit the system.

We must have an amazing signing lined up. 9m for Wickham and 6m for Defoe = 15m for Austin who would be a perfect fit in a 433 formation.

Sign the young lad from Utretcht as back up.

Sign Alonso and an attacking midfielder and I will almost be happy.

Unless we really are preparing for the championship and the club has some strange plan to get rid of all the rotten apples and start again.

In two minds but it's good money for a player we can't get into the system. Plus as Bri says huge wage gone. Target man of high quality needed

If this is true then as a lot on here have stated our four strikers (including wickham) were not fit for purpose ie crap or don't fit the system then Congerton has grossed the club 15 million for players most would like rid of, this speaks a lot of how clever Congerton is but he must have a plan B when recruiting replacements cause if he hasn't and Defoe goes then our 15 point record is in serious danger, isn't it great supporting SAFC.

**** him off he can go down with them. End of the day there is no modern system that he fits into which is why he went to Toronto in the first place.

He works in a big man little man 442 which has become obsolete. Mainly thanks to that smarmy twat Mourinho.

Defoe can't play the lone front man and he sure as hell isn't a winger. Sell and use the money to sign Austin and get Borini in on loan to play wide with Lens/Johnson and we have half a chance of staying up.

He's a cockney who never moved up North until he thought we were his last chance saloon in the premiership he's probably a whinging twat as well and let's face it bar the Derby goal has done **** all. Hope he leaves as he is one of several factors at this club which are currently a problem

I'll add into that he broke Craig Gordons arm by being a horrible ****.

He has always seemed a bit of an unsavoury character to me so was never overly thrilled when we signed him. Make no bones about it I loved his goal v the mags and that is the only reason I will remember him.

On another note he always seems to be banging a supermodel despite being an ugly little hobbit in desperate need of a good dentist

Basically what I'm saying is **** off Jermaine and while your at Bournemouth you can suck off old saggy face one last time.

If we are getting six million for Defoe,it's great business if we have someone else lined-up....which we must have.In effect,we've sold the useless beggar that we signed that used to play for Hull for 6 million...I can't even mention his name as he gives me the creeps to even think about him!!!

I think we're freeing wages to bring in players. Unfortunately we're not shifting the ones we want so may have to listen to offers on others.

He's never delivered I all honesty. The lad has great potential but has never succeed due to injury or simply not being physical enough. A lot of fans have pinned hopes on him but in reality he has never really cut it for us barring the very occasional moment of quality. If we are going to get our money back I say sell. In reality the club may already be preparing for a season in the championship.

How can we be preparing for life in the Championship two games into the season? I refuse to accept that possibility right now (perhaps due to blind faith more than anything else). If it were the case, then we've been preparing for the Championship for the last 5 seasons - and doing a pretty darn good job of it too.

As for Defoe and Giacc going, it all depends on who comes in their place. If it's just the Holland kid, then we're rooted. If, for example, it were Austin, the Holland kid, an awesome attacking midfielder (perhaps on loan) plus a competent defender, then I could see the case for it.

One other question - I can see how people would say that Defoe doesn't fit our system, but what exactly is our system?

We haven't got one. Dick is still trying to find one after our symbolic pre season.

I think I'll be worrying until replacements are signed. But at least Watmore offers far more than Defoe.
