I was referring to your abnormal, meandering tirade of commas, asterisks and such. It made your 'valid viewpoint' go pretty much unnoticed. All I'm saying is that you are getting flippant responses here because you've added it to a forum already filled with threads about the exact same topic but which mostly have more readable opening posts.

If the police did nothing , it can't be the same police that are on duty at the SOL, they cause half of the problems, and the stewards make it worse.

Certainly sounds like there were some ****ers at that match last night. It's so embarrassing to watch grown men run onto a football pitch to fight other grown men.

I can see what you are saying Bill but dont think it is Newcastle, their fans are even more pissed off than us about it, its that small minority of idiots who may think they support Newcastle but who, through their actions, do the exact opposite.

For me its not a stick to hit Newcastle with its a stick for footy fans to hit idiots with.

Appreciated Syd. The vast majority of that crowd, myself included, were ashamed and embarassed of what was frankly a bunch of scumbags who had been waiting for an excuse to do something all game. They were followed by a load of kids which made it look worse on camera, but it was shameful all round and gives a pretty poor impression of us to our debutantes. Hopefully the police pass on the camera footage to our club and we ban the lot of them, if they've ever set foot in SJP for a competitive game anyway.

    From this morning Journal
"Officers said the pitch invasion was entirely good natured except for a small number of fans, who had threatened violence."

So even the police admit the pitch invasion was not meant with any malice.

Reading the article it sounds like there was a lot of tickets sold on the gate leaving Darlo very unprepared.

I went to the game last season and you could buy tickets at the booking office just before kick off.

Got my ticket on the gate and literally walked in as the players were walking out, the box office had three cardboard boxes piled high with money. Early Christmas bonus for the girls in the booth!

Agree with you Syd and I'm dreading are friendly against Leeds:

    This morning Journal:

Three arrests at Newcastle United pre-season friendly match

IT’S just past the middle of July, the kids are still at school and many people have yet to get away for their summer holidays.

But already we have had the first arrests of the footballing year.

Last night Newcastle United fans turned out in force for the club’s first pre-season friendly.

And though the vast majority of the 5,500 fans were in good spirits, a minority caused trouble. Police said three arrests were made following Newcastle’s second goal, when more than 400 fans spilled on to the pitch to celebrate with players.

Officers said the pitch invasion was entirely good natured except for a small number of fans, who had threatened violence.

The match resumed after a few minutes, Newcastle winning 2-0.

The unexpectedly large turnout for the match caused traffic queues in Darlington.

Hundreds of supporters were also reported to have boarded trains at Newcastle’s Central Station for the trip south.

Police said it appeared a large number of Newcastle fans had decided late on to make the trip, which meant there was some heavy congestion ahead of kick-off. The total attendance last night was almost 10,000, which, police said, showed how many supporters had chosen to travel late on.

Chief Inspector Chris Reeves, overseeing the command at the game, said: “I think there was 3,500 or so tickets sold to Newcastle fans before the match, so it shows a large number have chosen to come down late on.

“With local games it can often depend on a number of different factors, including the weather.”

The travelling fans erupted with an early cheer when Joey Barton scored in the second minute. raising chants of “sign him up”.

The clear support for the midfielder came in the same week he apologised to fans for not being able to join the first team tour to the United States after immigration chiefs refused him a visa. Teammate Nile Ranger was also told he would not be allowed into the US.

Jesus Christ, nobody cares about the pitch invasion.

Really, they don't. You lot do, because it's Newcastle, but that's it.

Anyone else who cares is purposely being biased against Newcastle. I mean, three arrests? In London, times that by 100 and you got a good figure for a night. It's just pathetic how everyone is like OMYGOD A INVASION. It's a non-league side. Face it, it's nothing.

It hasn't brought 'disgrace' to the north-east, it's brought a good laugh like 'You hear about the Newcastle invasion, the one where they chanted "If Sammy scores, we're on the pitch" and then the lad scored and they charged on? Look it up on youtube, it's ****ing brilliant Mike.'

You will probably reply, 'You were probably one of those idiots who charged on the pitch'. But this is coming from a neutral perspective and I thought the above.

STFU and get on with it. It won't detract French players coming into the country or any major **** like that.
