I agree with most of that DH. Interesting that we've all been talking about who will be our 15 goal striker but at the moment it looks like we wont need one as the goals come from all over the pitch in a variety of ways. And that's exactly how I like it!
Very good points DH, and RvW, Odjidja-Ofoe and Wisdom all showed that they have something to add to the mix in the U21 game today. AN's game plan certainly emphasises the creative midfield aspect and we're well endowed there!
Hooper for me is Wes's back up, he has great footballing brain and technical ability I don't think a lot of people choose to see that when he plays at times and just think his some goal machine, he needs to come on as a second forward or a false 9.
If we were to ever use two strikers, that's certainly how I imagine it working. At the moment though it's a case of "it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
The Times giving us a new and improved Destro rumour... this time to us with added "loan basis". Wasn't this all tied up with Bologna last week?
I only saw the highlights, but It's so good to see Josh Murphy pulling the strings yet again in that team, Everything seems to pull in to him, similar to Wes.
Destro was "expected " to sign for Bologna on loan, but obviously a load of bolone. Hooper probably going to Celtic on loan, this could be a great move.
Not sure how we got "lumbered" with Lafferty? Not sure anyone was shocked when he didn't score a hatful played out of position on the left. We knew what he was good at when we bought him but unless my memory is really going, I don't think he really got a run of games in his preferred position.
Clubcall are running with a headline "Destro set to sign", but the article is unavailable at the moment. Perhaps that move is still alive then.
Sorry if this has been discussed before but I have only just come back to this website. I can't understand why NCFC are so reluctant to spend money on players who have proven quality with at least £100m in the kitty and debt free. As I understand it we have spent £7m on Brady, £3m on Dorrens and a loan payment on Wisdom. Both Keane and Mulumbu came on free transfers. We basically have the same squad that only managed to come third in the Championship. Perhaps we can't attract quality players to Carrow Road?
....apart from Brady, Wisdom, Keane and Mulumbu, three of whom have more than 300 Premier League appearances between them. Who do you think we should sign?
The problem is that we have quite a big squad already, some on high wages which we need to move on first. We can't afford to leave the likes of RvW and Lafferty out of the 25 man squad while still paying them a fortune. Having said that, McNally and the board do seem a bit naive with regard to current transfer values, if as reported it's true that we offered just £4.5M to sign Destro on a permanent deal then McNally is really away with the Pixies IMO.
You're right it has - the problem is that we budget to get relegated in 18th position as part of our careful financial policy. As we already have a relatively high wage bill in comparison to the other two promoted sides, that all eats into our budget. We also have quite a bit of "dead weight" on relatively large wages (for us) - it seems most likely that we need one out before we can get one in. That being said, Neil has already admitted it is a challenge attracting quality players to CR. We have to shrug our shoulders and accept that - if we stay up the situation will improve considerably. It is massively disappointing when you consider the quality of player other teams appear to be signing, but to be honest, though, having seen how much of a struggle it is fitting loads of new signings in I think that making a couple of changes round the edges is not just financially prudent, but also might be the best way for us to have a fighting chance of survival. And although the quality of other teams' signings on the face of it seemed high, so did RvW... When you look past the name, many of the players are passed their peak, or had struggles last season one way or another - they are all risks (although with potentially high rewards if they can recover form)
