The team was **** and our support was **** (even before we conceded a goal). It is going to be one hell of a job to turn this club around that's for sure..
Have to agree with Reg here, any player even considering moving to Sunderland and watching fans streaming out after 38 mins isn't going to sell the club to them. Its easy to support a team doing well, not so when the chips are down, but leaving the ground before half time is appalling. I don't blame any newspaper for picking up on this, its a disgrace
They were going for half time beers! As far as I could see in the south stand it wasn't until the 3rd goal went in that people started to leave.
I was watching it live...as soon as the 2nd goal went in the camera's panned round the ground, there were hundred's of people leaving..not all were going for beers after just 37 minutes. Also after the restart at half time, so many empty seats...again this was picked up on the TV. Honestly mate, I get no pleasure saying this, but our support right now is rank. Admittedly the team has to give something to support, but leaving this early...doesn't make sense to me.
I'm considering going to the next game. I hate getting stuck in traffic though so I'll stay till full time.
To be honest I'd be the sort of person who would have walked out yesterday and many times in the past. And it is for that very reason that I wouldn't go in the first place. I don't blame those people leaving.....but I blame those people for going in the first place.
Not just watching fans streaming out - Van Aanholt (who was absolute dogshit mind) mis-controlled 2 easy passes - 10 minutes in the entire crowd turned on him - he was getting booed from the south east corner and the south stand almost constantly and he only got worse after that! If Watmore had done the same the entire crowd would've backed him and said "unlucky lad" Shows how fickle we can all be! I reckon PVA would've been nowhere near that bad without the reaction vfrom the fans at his poor control - last season he was well liked - it's taken 2 games for the majority of people to change their minds. Connor Wickham yesterday LED THE LINE for palace - that elusive position Advocaat wants to fill as Defoe can;t cdo it (Rumours linking him with Bournemouth today?) He never got chance to do that last season - but, even on last seasons poor form, he was better than Defoe and Fletcher were on Saturday! I stayed till the end - I'm really glad I stayed to see Duncan get his goal! If he doesn't start on Saturday then something is seriously wrong
Just can't believe that 41.000 turned up after last season, was hoping the moaning fans had seen enuff. Where are the days when we went 1-0 down(lucky goal) and the whole place got behind the players it saddens me...
Don't think he will start to be honest!! Dick said something along the lines of he did well but can he do it from the start is another question.
