Nothing better than having rant after watching your own team surrender a 2-0 lead at home....so here goes: 1. Was this game a 'Friendly'? Only ask as there was virtually zero singing/atmosphere. Players were chatting to each other on the pitch. Both teams subs were having some friendly 'banter' while stretching etc. 2. Austin has vacated. He may as well be put on Gardening Leave if he puts in another performance like that. Ok, he scored. But was useless apart from that. Spent more time chatting and hugging his mate Sean Morrison. 3. On the other side to that - when Austin leaves - Polter will be our starting STRIKER!!! What a useless lump he was today - reminded me of Marc Nygaard. JET was equally guff. Both had really good chances but squandered them. Looks like the Bothroyd & Hulse partnership has been resurrected. FFS. 4. Chief played well at the back, and in fact, the back 4 looked relatively steady and confident. Though the combined age of our defenders is 476 years old so hope our Physio team is handy. Or maybe snap up that tasty doctor from the Scum....>! 5. Midfield looked so dull. No flair. Gladwin looks well out of his depth. Would love to have seen Faurlin come on for a run....... 6. Phillips - Premier League? Two Hopes. Bob and none. Completely underwhelmed today. Can't see where we are going to get goals from. No passion. Fitness looked bad too. At least we have Rotherham to look forward to.....haha!! Thats' better!!!!!!!
Just watched the highlights and Luongo was involved more than I gave him credit for initially. You on the wind up Toad?
Nothing more boring than a very infrequent poster coming on here and having a moan after just two league games. Hear from you again after the next defeat probably!
It will take time for these players to get used to playing together in the "Ramsey way". I get that and don't have a problem with it (as long as it doesn't take until February to see an improvement). However, unless the defence radically improves we will be going nowhere, fast. Both Konchesky and Perch look like they could be beaten by any winger from the Conference. As a unit they are being asked to play high up the pitch with a vast space behind, yet none of them have the speed to be able to get back and cover any ball played over the top/through into that space. That to me is a ridiculous tactic. No amount of training or team bonding will make the defence any quicker.
Not a frequent poster granted. But visit the site regularly and have been a member since day 1 and when it was on the BBC site. Now, frequent 'posting' means nothing. It doesn't earn you more of an opinion. I go to pretty much every home game - which is more than can be said for the frequent posters who don't actually watch many of the games. So, with all that in mind, I think I have earned the right to cast my opinion. Which of course, you don't have to agree with. P.s this team smacks of the sort of team/players which narrowly missed relegation in Warnocks first season in charge. 17th position for me. Reckon about 8-10 points clear of relegation. If we are lucky.
Don't think Austin can be blamed too much, he had no service whatsoever yesterday. If we are going to continue to play like that it's pointless having him in the team.
Am I lying with regards to Austin and the subs chatting and having fun with the other players?! Maybe you couldn't see it from your seat - that's if you went to the game of course... :-/ Were you impressed with Polter/JET? Phillips? Do you think that the fitness levels were good?
Our second game last year was against Spurs. Lost 4-0, barely touched the ball, languid and effortless. Our team yesterday would have beaten them.
I'm a bit tired of the "they need time to gel" arguments. They are professionals who've all done nowt else but play football since they were kids, with all sorts of teams and under various systems. Watford have 11 new players, a new manager and have stepped up a league, yet are still making a decent start and do not look 5hit. Southampton lost pretty much their best players and a great manager for two seasons on the trot, yet still managed to be competitive. I do hate posting negativity but these guys need a kick up the Rs. If the crowd was quiet it was because we were all aghast at just how inept it all looked. We want, need and deserve something to cheer.
Couldn't agree more. I go to games to be entertained. Win or lose believe it or not. I have cheered many a time when they have lost and made a good battle out if it. I remember sitting their yesterday at 2-0 up thinking "what a cack game this is".
CR has zero track record and continues to be below average. At what point do we accept he's not up to the job?
