As news is slow at the moment and I have not come up with an imaginative thread on Southampton since joining the forum I thought I would ask a simple question. I have obviously watched less of the Championship for the last few seasons, so what I want to know from you budding scouts is: which new young or up and coming players should I look out for this season? I am not talking about the players such as Scott Danns and Parker or Nicky Maynard that are already established players, I want to know about new players and what position and who they play for. I have come up with a few suggestions of players I have been impressed by from the glimpses I have seen of them: Reuben Noble-Lazarus (striker, Barnsley), Hal Robson-Kanu (winger, Reading), Jordan Spence (defender, West Ham). Can you please help inform me and add to my list ?
Lee Camp from Forest, George Boyd from Peterborough, Anthony Gerrard from Cardiff, Scott Barron from Millwall, Luke Chambers from Forest, Lee Peltier from Leicester, Martyn Woolford from Bristol City, Wade Elliott from Burnley, Theo Robinson from Derby, to name a few...
At a total guess: Jacob Butterfield Matt Phillips Ramon Nunez Simon Church Joe Bennett Marvin Sordell
I don't know anything about Joe Bennett, Jacob Butterfield or Scott Baron, care to enlighten me. What positions do they play, what makes them stand out?
Butterfield is a goal scoring attacking mid for Barnsley. He'll probably get more of a chance this season under Keith Hill. Joe Bennett is a very good young left back for Middlesbrough that has been linked with a move to Sunderland.
One of the players who will be a star in the Championship this season and one everyone will recognise is the mighty, the majestic, the magnificent, the mesmerisingly talented:- Morgan the Moon or as he is better known Morgan la Lune!
