As news is slow at the moment and I have not come up with an imaginative thread on Southampton since joining the forum I thought I would ask a simple question. I have obviously watched less of the Championship for the last few seasons, so what I want to know from you budding scouts is: which new young or up and coming players should I look out for this season?

I am not talking about the players such as Scott Danns and Parker or Nicky Maynard that are already established players, I want to know about new players and what position and who they play for. I have come up with a few suggestions of players I have been impressed by from the glimpses I have seen of them: Reuben Noble-Lazarus (striker, Barnsley), Hal Robson-Kanu (winger, Reading), Jordan Spence (defender, West Ham). Can you please help inform me and add to my list :)?

I don't know anything about Joe Bennett, Jacob Butterfield or Scott Baron, care to enlighten me. What positions do they play, what makes them stand out?

Butterfield is a goal scoring attacking mid for Barnsley. He'll probably get more of a chance this season under Keith Hill. Joe Bennett is a very good young left back for Middlesbrough that has been linked with a move to Sunderland.
