    An honest question .

Whst do you think of the armed forces?

I know its a tricky one. Depending on which **** is ruling.

How strong do you think the UK forces are(take away the nukes).

I think only ex servicemen and the extremely well read can give an answer worth reading here. Most of us dont have a clue about the British army or its equivalents around the world.

As a man who spent 12 years with them, at this moment in time, very weak imo.
A lot has changed since our time Comm.
That said, no one ****s with us in our own back yard.
I'm just glad I'm out of it.
My opinion is that this government will make more personnel redundant & rely more on the terriers.

Same Quality of Matelots,Squadies & Crabfats as ever but not nearly enough! and not enough equipment.

If war or Conflicts are declared I believe the Politicians or their Eldest Offspring should be made to serve on the Front line as was the case in the old Roman Empire. Not as Officers but just to make them think twice about committing to hostilities that are political without the kit or Manpower and with one hand tied because of the Goodie Goodie Brigade

I love the armed forces , brave (or stupid) lads doing dangerous **** so i can sup a beer in the sun on a friday afternoon. Very much under appreciated, under paid and disrespected. We live close to a military base (4 hours or so) and the hotels give serving service men 30- 50% discount most of the year, if i see one in the boozer always without fail buy them a beer.

The yanks go a little bit over the top , but ****ing hell do they respect Vets. Top notch medical care, discounts in shops etc etc etc.

regards strength not a scooby , my mate in the paras reckons best in the world man for man but we dont have the size anymore.

The pitiful state of our armed forces currently is a national disgrace. Too few in number; the politicians were lying through their teeth claiming the Reserves would be built up to 30,000 to compensate for the lack of regulars. It stood no chance as a plan and they knew it.

An aircraft carrier without aircraft ready for years, no maritime patrol aircraft, a legacy of vehicles left over from Afghanistan and Iraq that are pretty much useless anywhere else, and an army that would fit inside Wembley stadium. I could go on and on !

Next time an aircraft is lost over an ocean they better hope it's not a british aircraft in the Atlantic because we've got little or nothing to go look for it !

We'd never be able to mount another Falklands type operation, and if Ireland ever blows up again god fukin help us !

I did 12 years in the army and am bloody proud of it - losing good people I knew and served with. This country is fantastic at helping vets now and showing their appreciation but the majority of the population know little about life in the military and care even less about funding our Forces adequately.

A job, albeit an extremely full on job.

I find the ott love yanks have is embarrassing and borderline on the negative side of nationalism.

Whether they are morally good or bad is dictated by politicians.

I've worked and still work for the MoD soldier and now civvy for over 38 years and have seen many changes over the years, but what really concerns me are the constant cuts in manpower. It's a sad state of affairs when the total manpower of the regular Army would not fill Wembley Stadium.

If the Argies invade the Falklands again, we are ****ed!
