That list is flawed mate... Paul Reekie, 48, the Leith based Poet and Author. Suffered from severe depression. Committed suicide after DWP stopped his benefits due to an Atos ‘fit for work’ decision. Paul Reekie died in 2010. His benefits were stopped under a Labour government. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Colin Traynor, 29, and suffering from epilepsy was stripped of his benefits. He appealed. Five weeks after his death his family found he had won his appeal. He should have followed the full process through first before killing himself. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mark and Helen Mullins, 48 and 59 years old. Forced to live on £57.50 a week and make 12 mile trips each week to get free vegetables to make soup. Mark and Helen both committed suicide. This one also happened under Labour. Tragic case where they wouldn't claim disability benefits for fear of being put into care.
well, this has just reminded me how lucky i am. health, family, wife, kid, job - just SAFC ****ing things up. I guess you can't have everything.
That is a very trite way of judging people and their circumstances. Just out of idle curiosity I wikiid the people you mention and they certainly had their mental health problems. Maybe the benefit cut off/reviews were just too draconian for them to handle.
Find it interesting that we had a thread recently declaring we (Rich, secure Britain) should stop sending aid to poor vulnerable Africa. When the taxes of the rich and secure in this country stop going to the poor and vulnerable they die and people care. Seems compassion only extends so far.
To be fair mate, a lot of international aid never gets used for life saving purposes, all too often I've seen it used for art projects and so on. I think people get pissed off most though, when it goes to places like India to help them build roads and stuff. The biggest hoarders of gold on the planet, with a corrupt government, so it's up to good old UK to help them out. Aside from that, articles like these pop up everywhere, give a victim a name and all of a sudden they mean something to everybody.
But a lot will get through for life saving purposes. A lot of domestic benefits go towards kids food. A lot goes towards white lightning and 20 decks of sovereigns.
I don't doubt that mate. If people expect me to cry them a river every time the government let the nation down, I'd be bone dry in 5 minutes. This is nothing but angry Labour voters revolting because they didn't win. This is nothing compared to the death toll of innocent Iraqi civilians who got bombed by Labour.
Iain Duncan Smith is attempting to block the publication of "death statistics" that will reveal how many people have died within six weeks of their benefits being stopped. Support this petition to call on the Courts and Tribunal Service to dismiss this appeal and so prevent any further delay by the DWP in publishing these figures. https://www.change.org/p/hm-courts-...utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink
Just had a phone call, a friend of mine, Shakey, an old frail man riddled with mental and physical illness has hung himself after the Tories capped his benefits. I am ****ing fuming!!!!! Oh, I've been summoned because my council tax payment was three days late. This country!
