If people don't want to sign what can you really do? We need to play good football, show we've got a great team & work rate then Jan or next season (assuming we stay up) players will be more interested
Yep - there was a terrible match very early on at home in our PL season under Lambert where we lost 2-1 at home to West Brom, who were definitely one of the "needs to be 3 points here" type opponents. I can remember thinking it's going to be a tough season and we're really going to struggle, along with the big sense of injustice as Vaughan got elbowed and it was a clear red card, plus we were unlucky. The fact is we bounced back strongly and finished comfortably, so the odd set back is to be expected. That's what we need to do now - bounce back from the fact that we haven't quite got the signings we would have liked, we still have a squad capable of staying up. And learn from last saturday - better to have your bad patch early with plenty of time to iron out issues.
a) What does he drive, and b) how large is his appendage. These things we need to know before making a valid assessment. Good tweet re Jerome's birthday today unleaded wine @chrisgunns Was going to tell @camjerome33 to put his feet up and enjoy his birthday today but he better not #dangerous
c) If there actually will be a signing, I suspect there's been a few too many hoaxes on here already. Just the desperation that we've been driven to by the lack of real, significant transfer activity.
I'm not totally sure how many favors Alex Neils honesty there, will do us. Telling the worlds media we are unattractive to most decent players doesn't portray our club in the best light. I can see point though, he's trying to take the pressure off the club and the players from the fans, media and pundits. Playing the "little club" card.
I don't see it being the little club card it's just stating the obvious: Recently promoted clubs often go down Last time up our football was awful Untested manager Those 3 factors are making players think twice before gambling their career on them. It's OK when you're fetching lower leagues players & hoping they step up they're prepared to gamble but would you take the risk jumping from PL mid table teams to us considering the above?
I overheard Kevin Piper talking in Nando's about a new striker being unveiled tonight. He had the lemon & herb half chicken .
I'm not so concerned about that - as you say he's trying to take pressure off. But also it depends how you read it, it's also a bit of a challenge to the players we are trying to sign "you're being arrogant". If anything it might have a positive impact on our chances of getting a player in if they've got the right attitude. I think I'm less concerned about the media's attitude towards us (we're already little old Norwich) and more in the way it sounds to our own players and the opposition. In brighter news, nothing on here about the good news of a 2-year extension for the Murphys? Also see we are in talks with Toffolo
Do any of you think Alex Neil is being given the support he needs? I know recovering from relegation costs serious money and a lot of the players would have had payrises, but we have in the past been a bunch of cheapskates in regards to doing business.
