4-3-3 is very flexible and really should suit Phillips, as he wouldn't have quite the same defensive responsibilities.
Good question. From what I have seen, yes would be my answer. I know there is an argument that Austin will thrive without a Zamora type to feed off, but I've never seen any evidence of this. Polter (is there some kind of spell check thing which corrects his name to the golfer's?) seems a lot more active and irritating to defenders. Austin is a goal poacher with the physique of an old fashioned CF, rather than the CF you need with one up front or 4-3-3. And I think other players will score more goals if we go for a more flexible formation, even if Polter doesn't match Austin's tally.
If as has been said we are to play a fluid 433 or 4231 and if as we all believe that Austin will be off within the next 3 weeks, I believe we ought to go with those who will be playing the remainder of the season and play Polter up top as what limited highlights I saw last evening, he causes CB's a lot of problems with his style of play. For the few weeks that Austin will be here use him as an impact sub if necessary.......
If the only thing people can do is go to the Stadium then fair enough. Needs must. But big respect to folk who go to the trouble to download live electronic coverage, with all its telecams, angles, replays, commentary etc. Being in the ground is okay I guess but its just not the same
Two games for me this weekend Tramo. The R's against Cardiff and the Tribe against Tipp. Hoping for a double
I'd love to go to the real live games, just cannot get to England these days, but hopefully next Spring, before the season is over I'll be able to see a few.
You will not get the same view of the match as you would on the electronic format Ozzie. It is considerably inferior. I would suggest you set up a recording of the match which you should watch that evening to get a comprehensive look at the game. Preferably when you've sobered up
Thanks vm SARBF, that was an excellent review. Agree with those who say Phillips is better as a winger. The way he cuts in, and then has a go, reminds me a bit of Andros Townsend and Arjen Robben, just a bit mind you! He is a dangerous player when on top form.
Tell you what Swordsie, why not post a match report on here Saturday with your perspective from the armchair.......there you go it's got a title already, Swordsies armchair report.......then we can compare your view with those who went to the game.....should be interesting debate.....
Always do mate. You get all the detail electronically, but you miss the atmosphere, most of what the players are saying on the pitch and off it, and also the overview of the pitch which gives a better idea of tactics and strategy, which you get if you are sitting high up at least at a game. Ideally yes, I like to see QPR games live and watch them again later on a decent screen. Don't know about sober though!
This is a joke isn't it? At LR you get replays (with different angles) on the big screen, and plenty of commentaries and banter from the people around you. And it's in 3D and smellovision! There's no substitute for the real thing.
If I'm in a relatively sober state I sure will Yes regarding the atmosphere and the players talking but not sure about the pitch view. The Telecam is the best position to watch a match. Quite high up in the middle of the stand. Those sitting there will attest to that. Any other part of the ground is inferior imo. I don't joke Sir
Each to their own pal. I prefer the real life atmosphere, the camaraderie, the banter and being part of the '12th man' that sometimes makes the difference to the teams performance. All things you can't experience or appreciate by just yelling at a screen from an armchair. But I respect your views as a fellow R nonetheless.
What you don't see whilst sitting in your armchair is Bosingwa not tracking back; how the back four are coping as an attack develops; how the midfield are coping with the opposition's set up; how our attack is trying to find space; how the opposition's attack are moving our defence around; how our centre backs are working as a partnership; Charlie's body language when Bobby is taken off etc etc etc.
Absolutely right, great memories of the days I was a regular at Loftus Road, always with the 'standing-only' fans opposite the main stand. Those were the days! However, live a long way from the Bush nowadays, but do appreciate the old TV and streaming services, and all the comments from the guys on the forum. Next best thing to being there! You know, privately, I thought I must be one of the oldest supporters of QPR, but after seeing our captain visiting that wonderful lady on her 100th birthday, I ain't by a long way!
COL, I know you don't go to the effort to watch all the games cos you're always asking folk what's the formation, how're we playing etc. That's fair enough but I think you should give real fans a bit of credit for making the time & effort to do so.
