Winger ruled out for a minimum of eight weeks.

Dick Advocaat has revealed that Adam Johnson is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The winger suffered a shoulder injury in training and is set to undergo further tests on Wednesday evening, but Advocaat is expecting to be without the winger for a minimum of eight weeks.

The head coach also revealed that Jordi Gomez remains unavailable, with Danny Graham also struggling for fitness.

“We have Jordi Gomez and Adam Johnson injured and Danny Graham also has some minor problems,” said Advocaat. “Adam will go to the hospital for a scan tonight and then we will know exactly what is wrong.

“It is a serious injury and it will be at least eight weeks.”

Great news now let's give Watmore a chance to show what he can do.

Think it will be Larsson on the right wing instead, not that I'd play him there personally.

We have been working on 4-4-2 in training with Defoe and Fletcher upfront. This injury is probably the reason why.

Yes I think Seb will defo start there on Sat with Catts and M'Vilain the middle.
Watmore should at least make the bench now though.

    Ha Ha - Like it.

I don't see any reason why him and Beadling aren't on the bench for every game. Who gives **** about age, they have never looked out of place in the little time they have played with the first team.

Not sure it's "great news" but I agree with the sentiment.

One think AJ has is the footballing brain. His pass to set up Defoe was sublime. I truly don't think anyone else in that team could play such a pass. Only other that we have would probably be Giaccherini. Sad reality!!.

I think that might be the change.. Giaccherini for AJ. IMO anyhow

I don't share your relish at this news. AJ will have to be replaced now, by someone of proven quality imo

No, the reason, stated by Dick and plainly obvious to all is that he/we cannot persist with Defoe as a lone striker. Until (if) another striker is signed who can play alone, I think we'll see 442 with Fletch & Defoe

    Straight swap for Giacc.

Or Januzaj if we get him on loan.

AJ's been shyte for us for far too long now. He must go down as our biggest flops of all time. He won't be missed at all by me. I'd like to see a young, energetic, unknown watmore get a chance to do something AJ doesn't do much anymore and run at his fullback or bring in somebody else who can.

I think he'll play Lens right and Giac left, hopefully Dunc gets on the bench. As long as he doesn't play Defoe wide!

    Agreed.

Johnson does something genuinely world class about 1 games in 10. The rest he might as well not be playing in.

I disagree mate. He's not been as good as we were possibly expecting, but I wouldn't call him ****e by any means! As for being one of the biggest flops of all time... I know the lad has been inconsistent, but at times he has been very, very good for us. If he was performing at his top level week in, week out, we'd never have got him in the first place.

That's the thing. I don't think he's capable of performing at the level that made City sign him and which got him his England caps anymore. Maybes the rumoured playboy lifestyle has caught up with him ?
He looks a lost cause to me. We've waited 3 years now for him to show us why we paid over 10m for him, and apart from one good month in January last year when he thought Walcotts injury was a way he could make the World cup squad, he's been shyte in my eyes.
