I agree he appeared to have a poor game at Charlton (I didn't see the game), but I think he's good for at least another season. In the meantime, we need to find a protege for the future.
have we not made a bid for Bentley from Southend? Surely if we sign him then it could / would be a chance to get an expensive salaried player off the payroll?
Not on the stream I was watching. The usual dithering which rules out the quick throw, followed by a punt upfield. They did get over the half way line, I'll give him that. If Ramsey really wants us to play fast passing on the ground, this is a major drawback, bypassing the midfield.
McCarthy was at fault for Norwich's only goal in his first game for them. Lets be honest, Green may be sh*t but McCarthy has hardly looked any better
Maybe he could have done better on that occasion, but Mccarthy played well in the part of the game I saw and according to the commentary. It's not enjoyable seeing Palace with him plus Punchion and Delaney doing well.
I have to say that McCarthy has looked a disaster every time he played - admittedly not much and we can debate the wisdom of the previous management all night long about that. however I don't buy this lack of confidence bull ****. I am absolutely amazed he has displaced Speroni. Now if we could get him then Green can go wherever he thinks the splinters are less painful 'cos he ain't getting into the first team at either Chelsea or West Ham
I love all the Green haters, as has already been said on this thread and many others, he was one one best players last season. When a goalkeeper makes a mistake there is generally nobody behind him to help him out, unlike every other position on the pitch. If Green goes with our current squad we are fooked!
If below is true, looks like Greeno want out , although the statement "Green is thought to have told friends" is vague London Evening Standard: Rob Green is confident of agreeing a deal to rejoin West Ham from Queens Park Rangers, writes Tom Collomosse. The 35-year-old goalkeeper is thought to have told friends he expects to return to Upton Park before the end of the transfer window. The Hammers are keen to provide proven competition for their current first-choice, Adrian, while Green (left) wants to be back in the Premier League and suffering relegation with Rangers last season. Green has one year left on his contract at QPR and turned down a move to Chelsea earlier this summer. He spent six years at Upton Park and played more than 200 games for the club. His last match was the Championship Play‑off Final victory against Blackpool in 2012 and he left a month later after failing to agree a new contract. Despite QPR’s relegation last season, Green won his place back in the England squad in March and has been an unused sub in four internationals since then.
That has to be one of the most vague pieces of journalism to date.....they think that he may have told friends....no basis and plucked from thin air to fill column inches.....
He is under contract, so can really only go if we say yes....surely And we only have a rookie as back up...not certain we are going to say...."please Rob do whatever you want, because it don't matter to us"
He needs to come out & say that he denies this rumour as totally untrue & would like to help qpr bounce back up.
Why does he have to "come out" to deny the rumours? His personal life should have nothjng to do with it.
I don't buy into this "he was one of our best players last year" stuff. He's always going to look better than he is because he was busier than any other player on the pitch. He made a LOT of mistakes last year, more than most keepers in the league (Damage may have a stat for that). To me, I wouldn't care if he goes. We would need to replace him, but I'd prefer someone who can actually get down quicker than the titanic.
