Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat has suggested that some of his squad will be forced to leave the club by the influx of new signings.

The Dutchman revealed last week that he wanted to add at least two more players to his team, despite making five additions over the course of the summer.

Advocaat told the Sunderland Echo: "I always say, and maybe not everyone agrees with me, that if you bring players in, then some will go.

"As a player, if I'm happy here and no one comes in, then I think I'll have a chance. Then they're not going to go.

"But if we do bring players in, then some will go, with all respect to them, because they're not going to get a chance."

Sunderland were defeated 4-2 by Leicester City in their opening match of the Premier League season.

we will see if we get any players in. If we do, it doesn't mean we will lose some players as certain players are quite happy to sit back, take their wedge, then let their contract run down and move for free for a bigger wage.
I hope the Dick is right and hope SAFC are working like ****in crazy to get these next 2 players in asap.

Is he saying this to Congers and Short? Just get the new players in first, then worry about the departures?

I think so. The way he says "some people don't agree" I think is a dig at those two, who are stressing about the wage bill.

Seems like it although the way the club keep banging on about finances, FFP and such I don`t see how it can work like that. We`re struggling to shift the ****e as it is. We`ve still got crap from 3 managers ago we can`t get rid of.

    Need to get rid of

    Roberge
    Mavrias
    Bridcutt
    Buckley
    Graham

Even at nominal fees just get them off the wage bill.

It,s alright saying when the new ones come in but Where are they? All the rumours seem to be fizzling out, for defo we need at least 1 X AM, 1 X CF and another maybe 2nd string LB. Think O,Shea will come in and Marshall back line but who,ll Marshall him from bloopers is another matter

I don't think a new cf is a priority. Middle of the park is where we need a major signing!

But for now play catts mvilla and giach in the number 10 role see what happens that IMO would be quality..

Could not agree more, we need huge improvements from our mid-field, Catts, Rodders, Lars and Jonno have failed to impress so far, there are very few Premiership clubs as poor as us in this department, investment here is a real priority imo. We lost good options when we lost Gardiner and Colback as both could cover the full back positions as well as play in midfield, we don't have these options anymore and it is starting to bite.

What do you mean by 'so far'?
We've played one game! Surely Larsson did enough last season to warrant not being dropped already?!

I was taking the pre season games into account too, but I agree it is very early to start writing the players off, but the pattern of recent seasons is looking like its going to be repeated, a very poor start has dented my optimism.
