In a move seemingly almost engineered to develop conspiracy theories, Sunderland announced the squad numbers for the upcoming season this week, with numbers nine and ten conveniently left vacant, only serving to provide hope that Lee Congerton still has a few irons in the fire when it comes to possible attacking recruits.

Aside from the fact that none of our current crop deserve one of these numbers, surely this means we're getting 2 very decent players coming in soon? We can only hope...

I don't think it means anything other than that none of our current crop deserve one of these numbers

I wish he'd left numbers 2 and 3 vacant as well

Just seen Carragher highlighting PVA walking back several times on Sat. He's ****ing disgraceful sometimes mind. I spotted him in front of the away fans not working hard enough but in the second half he'd given up! Needs to be roasted.

He's a classic example of the type of player we get stuck with, on his day he's a handful going forward. The rest of the time he's a liability. If he was capable of consistency he'd be the Chelsea left back not available for us to pick up for peanuts

If my Danny gets us in to meet the players beforhand then I think us two ****ers could be wearing 9 and 10. Don't worry lads, I won't let you down and I will give the two fingers to Ellis when the diving header goes in..<laugh><ok>

I would have retained Reveille for another season and pushed VA to LM. Reveille may have been slower but his positional sense was immaculate and he was rarely caught out.

Said ages ago I'd keep Wes and Rev for one more year. If pat gets injured Jones will play left but while he's fit there's no competition for his place. You can't be walking about like that!

It's worrying that after playing so bad on saturday it's now Wednesday and we seem to still be treading water in the market. So now it seems we go into the Norwich game without any new recruits, I still expect is to win but ive got a feeling it will be a awful tense scrappy 1-0 with a absolute minimum of decent football played or chances created, this however with appease the board and some fans and all plans (if there are any) to bring in real quality will be shelved because "we beat Norwich at home". Get ready forJanuzaj on loan with no buying option and Rhodes for near 10m. I simply don't rate either player to be a consistent performmer at this level this season, or ever in the case of the latter. So a potential 10-15m spend on 2 players not to improve us? Prove me wrong Congerton for the love of Odin prove me wrong!
