Should we be looking to take one of these two off of Stoke? Them signing Shaqiri and Afellay must be pushing these boys down the pecking order. Both are attacking creative midfielders who know the league well and must surely be better than what we've got at the minute. Not sure how much either would cost or if either would want to come but I'd certainly be happy to see one of them signing.

Note - this is not a transfer rumour just me thinking out loud.

If they are going down Stokes pecking order, because Stoke have signed 2 better players, who were available, shouldn't we be looking to sign those available better players before Stoke do rather than help them offload those who are becoming surplus to them ? Guess we need to have faith that the powers that be aren't interested in players who Stoke would sign or maybe sell.. Having said that, agree they could improve us although sad to admit that Stokes seconds are better than us.

Just goes to show how far Stoke have moved forward and we have stood still. Apparently they used to use us as a role model in Quinn's chairman days. They hire a laughing stock from his QPR days manager, who in all honesty has made them a team to watch. I believe our problem is ES and thought it for a good while now..

No offence to the op but this thread shows perfectly how shambolic our club has been run compared to others around us.

A team who used to take our ****e now signing world class players and we are envious of their bench

^ Meltdown already started, it's a big No, No with a big ####ing No on top. IMO we need another three CB/AM and a striker. Two buys and a loan will do it but it won't be cheap.

I don't do meltdowns mate, spending like £300 for a home game which includes an overnight stay tells me I have a say? and I will be doing that this Saturday. IMO Ellis Short is letting us down at the moment, paint any picture you want and the typical ****e but we saw what was needed, we got the manager but we are 3 players short of what was needed a week into the season. Not ****ing rocket science by any means of the way..<ok>

It was a serious suggestion I honestly think either would improve us though admittedly not wow signings. Clearly there are lots of us not too keen on the idea of taking players from Stokes squad, these are players that helped Stoke to a 9th placed finish last year 16 points better than us yet when we were in for Fer who helped QPR to relegation last year we were all happy with the prospect. Of course I'd love to think we could get the Shaqiri's and Afelays but we're not exactly an attractive prospect to that type of player are we with our annual relegation battles and generally being one of the least appealing teams in the league. The daft thing is for all of the outrage at the mere suggestion that we could sign one of these two I'm not too sure they would be keen to come to us.
