See our youth policy was off to a good start at Leicester.....not one on the bench. When the game was out of reach it would have been a good time to bring one on. Watmore is wasting his time. He just needs to move on sadly. It's one side of the club like other aspects we get it so wrong.....
loads of kids on show elsewhere in the league, nee clue why we refuse to give a yougun a chance. Or Is he simply not good enough ? Looked a live wire in what i saw of him in pre season
When the game is out of reach and heads are down is the worst time to blood youngsters. Impacts their confidence and often hampers them. Best time is when the game is safe (3-0 up in the last 20 or similar) The pun has been used before but Watmore does he have to do to get in the squad? Been excellent for the reserves and entering the final year of his contract I believe. But this game was no game for blooding youngsters
West Ham stuck a 16 year old on the pitch (from the start) yesterday away at Arsenal. We wouldn't have the balls to do something like that. It must be infuriating especially for Beadling when he looks at the load of **** that gets a game over him, same with Watmore, I'm not sure what else he could do to be ready for first team football? I do know these lads would probably have been blooded into the first team at a lot of other clubs, along time ago.
At the moment, he has a very good case for starting. Johnson looks terrible and Watmore fits that position perfectly.
Agree totally - but not in the middle of a drubbing (which, when you look at the league table, was a better result than Arsenal yesterday!!)
Agree with that. I would have no issues seeing Beadling and Watmore in the starting line up in the next fixture.
Someone on here yesterday mentioned he was playing, just before the game. Kept an eye out for how he did. You could see why he was given his chance, the lad was so composed and got a great ovation when he was taken off just before the end.
It was me mate. It infuriates me that we seem to often have promising youngsters coming through but we never give them a fair crack of the whip to see how good they are. We molly cuddle them to much and think we have to phase them in over about 5 years. I want us to take a chance, for the next several games, start with Beadling and Watmore to see what they can do. I honestly believe at the moment with the form and confidence the kids have, that they will improve our team and give us fresh impetus and pace. Don't bring them off the bench 1 game in 10, start them from the off and show confidence in them instead of always trying to protect them.

Pickford got 90mins for Preston aye? The lads need out on loan we are a disgrace at giving opportunity.
I know which way you are coming from and to an extent it is a perfect argument however I disagree. The Premier League to me is the toughest and most brutal in the world. The least bit flaw and you will be found out whatever the age you are. When you are 3 down why not put them on because waiting for Sunderland to be 3 up doesn't happen very often. Certainly not over the last few seasons. Put them on and see if they have the 'nuts' for the fight. There either going to make it or not but we don't even give our kids a chance. There's Bilic puts the Oxford on from the start at Arsenal. He isn't waiting till there 3 up....the lad was brilliant. Our's don't even have a chance to be bad because they can't even make the bench. Season after season we are clinging on with our so called experienced pro's...Fletcher, Graham etc...we are just going around in circles. Putting a kid on to start instead of someone like Fletcher would surely light a fire up his ass.....Dick says he wants competition...use your kids to start that.......
All about opinions - I remember a kid playing for Newcastle - he was a Trimdon lad (and I lived in Trimdon at the time 19 year old) and he played in a loss to Man Utd - they were getting beat 4 or 5-0 and this lad (Paul) was playing up front with Shearer - he was rushing around getting the ball and shearer - the captain - told him not to bother as the game was over! His head dropped and he never played again higher than League 2 (division 3 as it was then!) - He reckons it's all because of one moment in a bad game where the team were playing rubbish! Also - Dick Advocaat must be to blame but he sees these players - he knows more about the game than I do - we all want Watmore to get game time but Dick obviously doesn;t think he's ready otherwise he'd be paying! I don;t know what to think all in all but something needs to change. Oh and Raheem Sterling was ****e last night! He's a kid who got a £49m pricetag and played regularly! He'll disappear I reckon in around 3 or 4 years
Great stats......wonder when the last time Sunderland in the Premier League featured in there.....lol?
You'll never know a player's true capability until he actually plays. For a forward like watmore, it's hardly a gamble to give him 15 minutes here and there regardless of the score. He needs a few runs in the team so that we can actually see what he has. Beadling, being a defender, is a lot more difficult. A mistake in that position is a much bigger deal so I'd be very cautious - only when we're up 2 or 3 with 15 to go for example.
The kids have confidence and are keen to prove what they can do. How many of the matchday squad have the same get up and go??. They should be given a chance, even just part of a game, or we (and they) will never know if they have it in them. Or is it safety first all the time??- hasn't done much up to now.
I hope as a club we have a big rethink after today. Our youth policy will only work if these kids get on the pitch. Whether we are 3 up or 3 down.....give these lads a go. Well done Watmore today....
