I used to feel confidence when Adam Pearson was conducting transfer business, it was more like with one eye open and a grimace with Paul Duffen, but with Ehab I'm rocking back & forth, eyes screwed shut, hands over ears and screaming la-la-la! Hoping for dear life that he doesn't just completely **** it up!!
I still hope it comes off - the more pace up front the better. Hooper would be a like for like with Jela - with an improvement in effort. Gray would make a difference across the pitch
If anyone wants a good laugh just go over to the Brentford forum, these are just the two most recent posts but there is plenty of gold spread throughout the 185 page Andre Gray thread. 1)Tell that to our owner who has just won the Danish title with fcm, a team who had never won a trophy whilst using the same system. Don't forget, when we get there we have the same money as everyone else but we will not waste all of it on players like Gray and Moses when we can pick them up for 1m. Honestly, you don't know it yet but we have taken you to the cleaners big time. 4 weeks ago we were saying 2-3 mill for ag would be great business, now we feel like all our Xmas' have come at once. Thank god for people like Steve Bruce and clubs like hull who don't have the nous to do something different 2) With the greatest of respect you have absolutely not a scoobie doo in regard to what our club is doing. We are regarded globally as one of the most exciting and fascinating projects in the sport......globally. Buying players cheap and selling high is exactly what we do, how we find the players is the secret. If clubs like hull had 1% of our ability to find players under radar you wouldn't be paying 13m for them a year later. Half the attraction is the fact we will sell them when they attract attention, that's why they come. Honestly, you have very old school thinking and your manager is about as old school as its gets. The top prem sides can buy the best players and we all know who they are, when you don't go up which I believe is a huge possibility you really are in trouble as you wil only get a fraction of this investment back.
I know. It's a fanzine ffs and therefore no more insightful or in the know than here or Vital or CI Towers TWT as always
Sam Elliott @SamElliott_NLP Andre Gray likely to be a Hull City player within days. Fee around £9m. Lucky Luton Town. 20% sell on means a £1.8m bounty for the Hatters
Not sure why you feel like that. Ehab has negotiated with top teams in the past and successfully brought in players that we should have never really had a chance of signing. Huddlestone, Dawson, Jelavic.. most at reasonable money too.
Your maybe right but he didn't come with much experience and this latest saga does smack a little bit more of his dad than it does Ehab. I'd still rather have a Pearson in these situations however.
Funny really, because most of the people on here have been saying pay them what they want, just get him here.
I think we should target someone else, **** over Brentford at the last minute and pounce on the other striker. We're over paying by a lot if it's £9 million... and it doesn't sound like it's 7+2million more like 9 million + add ons... I have a bad feeling about this deal. Seems like the kind of player who will be moved out of his comfort zone, pressured to succeed quickly by a big price tag... It's far more of a punt than many of you seem to think.
If a striker is any good he's usually worth paying a reasonable amount for. You don't usually buy strikers who have been performing well for less than £10m - OK forget about Gestede! I wish City would have a few irons in the fire though. They should make it obvious they are negotiating for three strikers to concentrate the selling clubs minds. Gray does seem to be a player who prefers a ball over the top. If that's the case we have to be aware of it and play to his strengths. We can still play to the strengths of other strikers too so we are not one dimensional.
I'm sure he can handle the pressure! If you see his goals he doesn't look under pressure in front of goal! Completely the opposite, cool as!
I think it's a good thing to fight for a fair price. The stories coming out that we agreed a deal then withdrew it, agreed the Moses deal and then tried to tie it in with Gray worry me. The stories may well just be that, but baring in mind with the circus we have had at this club - it wouldn't surprise me if we have been trying to pull some strange manoeuvres.
