Anyone else think things are starting to get a little tight for selling players now? It seems to me that Turner is unwanted, but I don't see us getting rid unless we make an appropriate signing. Unless we've had an expression of interest already, I can't see many teams wanting to hold on for him to become available. I can only see him getting a loan really, as the window opens after we'll have confirmed our squad. Unfortunately that puts us in a poor position for bargaining, as championship sides will know we're stuck with his wages til January at the soonest anyway. Up front, perhaps things are moving faster and we'll add our 6th senior striker (Jerome, Grabban, RvW, Hooper, Lafferty, plus one) soon. Lafferty's injury has perhaps prevented him moving on, but we couldn't shift RvW all summer, so I can't see anything signing changing that.
I would like to see us offload Turner, Ricky and Lafferty. Bring in a Striker and a CB. Can't see us offloading any for a fee. Either a loan or free. I think we will only sign 1 player, and I think it will be a foreign untested Striker. Which is ok, as long as he's an improvement on Ricky, Lafferty, and Grabban. Can't see us getting a CB.
Something being retweeted on Twitter about maybe Dwight Gayle Could be the striker we are trying to sign. I think if we were to play 2 up front. Cameron Jerome battling, fighting and running with his physical presence in the air. With Gayles work rate, running, and finishing. Could be good. Plus, although a lot smaller and not as strong or tall. Similar to Jerome in the way he works, keeps running and when he gets a chance, can finish. Could take the pressure off playing Jerome all the time. I said before I'd like him, but not for 10 Million. I said I'd like him atno more than about 7M. I think I'd revise that, and push it up a couple of million or so. We can't startup front with Grabban, Lafferty or RVW. I like Hooper a lot, but he's a bit slow for a solo striker. Gayle might be our answer. He knows the Prem too.
Gayle scored 10 last season and 8 the year before , he has Prem experience English and 25 years old. I would like to see him in the #9 shirt. If Brady is worth £7m Gayle is worth £10m. Sign him up Mc Tasty.
Jerome - Nothing special Grabban - **** Hooper- Meh Winkel- **** Lafferty- **** I doubt there is anyone that we can afford and wants to come here that will muster up more than a meh. Miserable old **** syndrome.
Still never heard of him, I won't defend the club's transfer policy just to toe the line. McNally pratted about with the Brady deal now he's running out of time to address the two areas that really need sorting. Unlike some I don't believe he's some sort of God who's actions cannot be questioned, the man has serious questions to answer if the window closes and we go with what we've got.
Yeah, another bloody champagne socialist I look forward to the day she sells up to a Russian Oligarch
My issue with Gayle is that he won't really replace CJ if he gets injured. This means we would end up playing 2 upfront, which won't work away from home and isn't really favoured at home these days due to the modern formations which allow 5 in midfield. I don't really think he is a proven PL striker either, ok he has had a coupe of seasons and scored 8 and 10 I think. But it's not really proven is it? How many did Hooper get from appearances off the bench? The reason we are looking for another striker I thought is in case CJ gets injured and/or to increase the quality of the squad. Not sure Gayle does either of those things. And as we are not really setup to play 2 upfront I don't see the point in getting him in.
As for West Brom spending £12m on a player from abroad, that can go either way. Look what happend with RvW.
Well that's not strictly true, I've heard of the name but I certainly wouldn't recognise him if I passed him in the street
