Assuming we don't have any new faces

    Pantilimon

    Jones/Mathews, JOS, Brown, PVA

    Catts

    Larsson, Giacherinni, Lens

    Defoe, Fletcher

Subs are 7 from the rest

Fletcher isn't the dogs bollocks but unless it escaped anyone he actually scored and we played better once he came on.

    4-1-3-2

Agree with the strikers, wouldn't be changing both cbs though, just Coates. Brown or JOS alongside Kaboul.

back 4 unchanged for me! Yes we were ****e, but until they play a bit together then they will never gell

Giachrini in for rodders would be my only change , and maybe a quick run out for the nutter, when were 3 or 4 up! :emoticon-0140-rofl:

I think Dick might actually go for this, we cant keep making wholesale changes even after a performance as bad as the first half on Saturday. There is a lot to be said for giving the team a chance to redeem themselves. Only one or two changes at the most makes sense imo.

I think it's too big a game to through Beadling in personally, would rather see him get a few games in the League Cup first, or maybe some appearances off the bench.

Our pre season was a shambles, far too much travelling and not enough football.

I think this is a fair comment. It's not just us either, Chelsea and Spurs notably have not had preseasons designed for them to peak last Saturday. It's juggling trying to grow the business with trying to prepare the team.

Maybe we could play with a left back this weekend?

If he's good enough, he's old enough. All big games in this league for Sunderland mate.

West Ham have just started a 16 year old for their first game of the season away at Arsenal.

Fair comment mate, but I think they know they're not likely to be in a relegation battle and so they can take risks like that. This is a high-pressure game even if it's only the second one in the season, and I think it's very risky chucking a young lad in when there's so much pressure and such a negative atmosphere around the club after the weekend.

Fair enough but I'm not convinced by Coates or Kaboul tbh

Don't really think it matters what the Sunderland team is if you check on the premier league website the ref is someone called a Mr Kevin Friend so before they even get on the pitch the tea lady will have been given two yellows or a straight red just for a warm up - don't know why I bother with a SC

Can see O,Shea coming back in for either of the other 2. M,villa for Rodwell as maybe his last chance has gone at box to box player. Rest I can,t see changing tbh as Dick will give them a chance to prove themselves. lens on the left, Johnson right etc. Catts needs to stay in front of back four, m,villa, Seb, Defoe, Johnson, fletch or Graham on his own
Don,t see this as a game to go wildly experimenting on! Can,t see watmore getting a chance tbh for any time soon

I must be just having a senior moment, but didn't Johnson used to play out on the left last season before Wickham was stuck out there?<confused>
Or was I watching the tv from inside the set?<doh>

Is O'Shea not a starter for you lot now then you reckon? Had him n Pants in my FF team thinking you normally have a fairly solid defence and espescially towards the end of last year under Dick (didn't see you conceding 4 on Saturday <doh>) But I don't know whether it's worth me taking him out or leaving it a couple more weeks, I thought he was your captain?

Cattermole is our captain mate. I have a feeling O'Shea will be starting on Saturday.

There's nothing between our centre halfs, you could pick any two from the four out of a hat and start them together at the moment.
