Should we play a completely different eleven than the one against CAFC or should we be getting players fitting into a system? We can virtually play 11 midfielders.
But was is a full strength team?.. Green Perch Onouha Hill Konch Phillips Fer Luongo Gladwin Chery Austin That is very full strength . Assume Austin/Fer will not play.
Fer Isn't fit. Austin seems to be looking forward to the game judging by his tweets, dare we dream he might stay?
Maybe it's a bad dream but I think he'll go the same place as Remy. Must be dreaming though because he's not quick enough for their game I don't think.
We haven't got a team yet so would imagine the club will play to win every match If we don't then how are we supposed to grow The recent successful models Swansea Cherries Watford Saints have all instilled a club ethic which runs itself long term CR won't know anything about his team for a while yet
Now that we have the "experience", "lessons learned" and "reality check" from the Charlton match, so we can focus the team for Yeovil. The team selection depends upon what we wish to achieve. Last week I thought it would be good to give the "youngsters" a run out. Now I see that we still need to improve our team-work. So I would probably play something in-between. Nevertheless I would apply the following logic: - rest the players who will probably leave: Austin, Phillips, Fer (injured anyway) - rest the more "mature" or "delicate" players: Hill, Konchesky(?), Faurlin(?) - test a new back four formation without "Clint Hill" - field a youngish team, but potentially strong enough to win (or at least draw). I have most difficulty with our backline and have considerered the following options: #1: ---Perch ------Onuoha-----Hall-----Koncheski-- (as Saturday but play Hall for Hill) #2: ---Perch ------Onuoha-----Hall-----Kpekawa--- (as above, but rest Konchesky) #3: ---Furlong ----Onuoha-----Perch--Kpekawa -- (play the young full backs with Perch as CB) #4: ---Furlong ----Onuoha--- -Perch--Konchesky-- (as above with Koncesky as LB) #5: ---Furlong ----Onuoha-----Hall ----Kpekawa -- (play the young full backs with Hall as CB) As the defence is our achiles heel, I would go for the potentially our strongest option, but without Clint Hill, thus option #1. So my proposal for the starting eleven is: -------------------------Green---------------------------- ---Perch -----Onuoha-----Hall------Konchesky--- --------------Faurlin?-------------Luongo------------- ---Mackie-------------Chery--------- Gladwin----- -------------------------Polter------------------------- I am deliberately chosen Green and not a reserve keeper, as Green is a "confidence" goalie and needs a good performance. I have mixed feelings about playing Faurlin and am open to other options. I would chose Chery over JET to further gel him in the team, expecially with with Polter. I am sure that there are many other options.
Play what will become your strongest 11 and get a result at any costs Starting from base IMO there is no better growth plan than to get a few wins This is a must win game IMO As a club they owe that to us Like everyone else we are looking at what is being built and we must win this game ... Not only win it but win it well with a desire to do so
------------------Green--------------------- Furlong-----Hall---Onuoha--Kpekewa ----------Luongo------Doughty---------- JET--------------Chery---------Petrasso -------------------Polter---------------------
If CR plays a different team then it could spell out disaster to him and the club IMO We simply have to build a new team and quickly after yet again a real mess of a close season Behind the scenes brilliant coaching sessions mean nothing no substitute for proper competitive matches Injuries and knocks aside start with the strongest team . We are not in a position to pretend we are a football club yet
When in God's name were we last on a 'cup run', must have been over 20-years ago? I have, at this early stage, already given-up on what the best side is. They'll just have to experiment until something good happens. Well, apparently, pigs do fly.
It just has gotta be Perch ------Onuoha-----Hall-----Koncheski-- The backs are not match fit yet, they need to get up to speed, and this is the match that Hall is bought for...to give Hill's legs a rest. Hate to say it...the team needs to gel and it needs to win ...so the rest of my team would be ----------Faurlin-------------Luongo------------- ---Mackie-------------Chery--------- Gladwin----- -------------------------Polter----
Anybody else slightly pissed off being told that so and so 'isn't match fit yet'? What the **** have they been doing? How come the Charlton players (and doubtless the Yeovil ones) are fitter than us? Or is this a red herring to put us off the scent 'we don't have a team yet' may be more accurate. Followed by a hopeful 'but we will have soon(ish)'.
