Probably the latter. He isn't cheap but the Whickam money could cover the majority of it.

I don't rate Rondon one bit, I will be surprised if he is successful in this league. Wouldn't pay more than 5 million for him, to be honest.

Javier Hernandez is who I'd like. West Ham are about to offer £12m for him. Lets gazump them. He'd be fantastic for us.

He's gunna choose West Ham all day long over Sunderland mate. Think he will be getting another offer again though from a bigger club.

The fact that no premier league club has actually took the chance on him over three good championship seasons worries me, but he'd get my support and wouldn't be written off 1st chance.

I couldn't agree more with this! Midfield all day long. Defoe will score goals, his goal yesterday was quality.

It was like the midfield and fullbacks treated the game like a pre-season. Was listening to Sherwood on MOTD last night. He's got his players working mornings AND afternoons 6 HOURS no less! I hope we are beating that from Monday. The lack of commitment was appalling yesterday but think 1st choice strikers are fine. Catts was diabolocal, played like he'd been on the piss all Friday night.

Not the player we need. We have a goal scorer called Defoe, where does he play if we get Rhodes.

After the weekend the evidence shows we need a quality centre half (johnny Evans would be my choice) and a quality midfielder (Adnan can't spell his spell his name) would be my choice. Plus I would put Giacc in the side.

Get Borini or Austin in, Rhodes in untried in the premier, and while dick is at it get Johnny evans and Danny rose back.

Not a player that I've seen very much of so I can only go off what others have said of him and that is that he is a good finisher but he's slow and doesn't offer a lot else other than his goals. While I'd agree that his record suggests that he deserves a crack at the premier league Blackburn are asking for a hell of a lot of money for someone who's totally unproven above Championship level, if we sign him I'm sure we'll all get behind the lad but he could end up being a very expensive flop. Personally I'd like to see us sign a striker with pace who can run beyond defenders (I don't know who but that's why the club employ scouts) and maybe one day we'll sign this mythical attacking minded midfielder that we've been desperate for for the last decade.

Was great when here , but i think he has gone backwards. Huge no from me. Coats and Kaboul looked like they hadnt played together ever, well really they hadn't, colossal ****up in preseason really! Ive every confidence they will grow into a decent partnership.

999% behind getting Giac in the side, the lad is quality

A much as I think he is class... I don't think he is too much different style wise than Defoe. And dick came out after the game on Saturday saying categorically that Defoe can't play the "one up front 4-3-3 system" that dick likes so what would be the point in having 2 players incapable of playing the way the manager likes to play?

Dick, on radio Newcastle, said those exact words so he obviously wants a striker. Pre season kaboul and Coates looked good together and, to be honest, on Saturday I was more worried about the full backs as it was so easy getting down the wings. Remember Defoe and Connor did an awful lot of work tracking back last season. No one did it for them at the weekend and they were expected to defend. They didn't! We need a striker and a right back IMO. First choice right back not a £2m player (Advocaat also said similar in that £2m players should not be instant first teamers)

He hasn't gone backwards at all mate, dunno who you've been watching, he's great, you should definitely bid for him, £10m should do it... ok, ok, £6m... right £3m and that's my last offer.... right, one Bombay Bad Boy and a can of Tizer and I'll tie him up and wheelbarrow walk him to the SoL and tip him out on your doorstep.

Do we have a ****ing deal???
