Davies - Looked back to his best Huddlestone - Controlled the game. Some lovely cross field balls setting Elmo away Clucas - Grew into the game after a poor start. Reluctant to take his man on but rarely gave the ball away. Unlucky not to get a second.
Gave our kid, no genuinely, my and jrs tickets. Him n his mate say Davies. Motm. He's an ex CB himself so I'll agree with him. Ginger n chubby for the other two. Cos they scored
He will have to be on TOP form next week to stop Afobe, the lad was on fire at the end of last season! Saying that, Afobe vs Akpom in the battle of the Arsenal Juniors will be intriguing, judging on today's display - I'd put my money on Chuba.
Dawson - Made defending look effortless today - Class. Hayden - Industrious in midfield - nice easy passing. Involved in the build up for our first goal. Clucas - Scored on his debut, looked a bit nervous early in the first half, improved enormously as the game moved on. He should deserve a special award for wearing old school black football boots. None of this ****e neon pink/yellow/blue bollocks. Agree - Aluko looked very lively when he came on.
1/2 Dawson & Davies - choose which order you want them in...Will be the best Championship CB partnership by far. 3. Hayden - So composed for a teenager playing on debut for a new club.
Dawson- captains performance and completely controlled the back 4 Davies- great to see him back to his best Akpom- took his goal very well and looked a constant threat Special mention to Clucas and Hayden/Huddlestone who could have made top 3 but I thought they both drifted out of the game a bit in the second half.
1 - Huddlestone. Played a bit further up allowing him to play more dangerous balls. Had a couple of attempts at goal. Cool and controlled. 2- akpom. Loves to run at defenders, something we haven't had for a while. Will win a lot of free kicks, not through cheating just by being a nuisance. 3 - Hayden. Looked nervous at first, was worried about him but he grew as the game went on. Great play to steal the ball and start the play for the first goal.
Huddlestone - controlled the game Davies - Back to his best Clucas - grew into the game after his goal
Davies Huddlestone Akpom Thought Akpom was good surprised not that many people have voted for him, and Clucas wasn't that great for me, looked pretty nervous I thought
I thought defensively Clucas looked poor, he improved as the game went on, but a left of Clucas and Robertson looked defensively weak. Though they both look dangerous going forward, we'll just ave to score more than we concede.
1. Thudd - he's still got it 2. Akpom - thought he took his goal well and showed encouraging signs of willingness to work (unlike N'Doye) 3. Robertson - seemed to be trying to make the partnership with Clucas work rather than rampaging by himself Special mention for Luer who showed surprising strength for his size and age, also a little class for the ten minutes or so he was on
I'll save my vote till I've watched the full game replay on Tiger Player. As Ellewoods said those who vote on the basis of a radio commentary should be disqualified....especially if they were listening to Burns/Swann.
Voting for motm based on a radio commentary is absolutely insane. I struggle to believe anyone has the gall to do it, and even to try to justify their actions - but then some always do.
Nice to hear we might have the Davies and Thudd of old back. Those two in proper form should make this another memorable season.
Only after we scored and as the game opened up he got more time. There was many parts of the game when we didn't get close to their midfield aswell, just like last season
1. Davies, looked interested at last 2. Hudd, cool head for most of the time 3. Chuba, 'cos he scored a cracking goal. Bit disappointed with Robertson, he's just not a defender.
