Looking forward to my first trip of the season on sat against the Ford workers...... A new manager, new back room and players.........could be interesting. My prediction: an optimistic (as ever) home win 3-1
Ditto bp 2-1 home win I hope. Quietly optimistic at the moment. Pleased with the signings we have made, and the manager's attitude and approach to the new season.
Wow, that was a great game. Not just because of the scoreline but the performance as well. The first half an hour, it was all us, Dagenham barely got out of their half. The players seemed to know where they were and despite the team being new, it seemed like the team was already gelled, there was already a good connection between the players. Also the fact that we keep it on the ground was nice. The last bit of the first half was a bit more even, and the atmosphere got a bit quieter as a result. Second half we pretty much like the first bit of the first half, and the atmosphere reflected that.
As above ! All three goals were good, but the two goals from winger Kyle Bennett were superb. The defence was excellent, well marshalled by Christian Burgess. Two good attacking full backs, two good wingers, and a solid midfield. Our quick passing was accurate, and boy, didn't we look a totally different side to last season. A team with discipline/skill/pace/ability, who actually played like a well oiled machine. Total class. Well done Paul Cook
just got home, crap drive down as traffic all the way, but well worth it. We played well, players seemed like they had been a team for seasons, Cooky has got them working, chasing and passing.........my god, Murphy in goal can even play the ball out from the back and we have defenders who are confident on the ball my optimism was founded PUP Roberts was a worthy winner of MOTM.......but for me it was Burgess
Well done Argyle. We may well have signed Reuben Reid by then, so he could make his debut against you in that match
Soft bugger didn't score today. He's bleddy useless you can have him on a free. And our Dockyard is bigger than your Dockyard.....
A great way to begin the season- both in terms of the scoreline and the style of play from all accounts.!!! Was a little surprised Jones was not in goal - close to being player of the season last campaign from all reports and with Murphy only signed until January it seems a little strange. When signing loan players on the basis of getting first team football there appears to be an obligation to pick them that can be unfair on permanent staff. On another subject when clicking on the comments on Pompey articles in the Portsmouth News I am finding nothing comes up. The comments used to come up automatically. Does anyone else have this problem?
A good result to start the season - ensuring the Daggers have still never beaten us - but I'll wait a few games before I pass judgement on the squad in any way.
Dont get me wrong, i like Jones as a keeper.......but you will recall.....I did keep questioning his distribution of the ball........now Murphy I like, get him signed, cracking keeper, vocal and big presence, plays the ball out through the defenders, I like teams who play with possession, the figures speak for them selves!
Was really pleased to see such a positive result - no season ticket this year - long story - but will attend the odd game and cheer on from afar - certainly looked like we bossed large parts of the game and a clean sheet - marvellous stuff. Will keo feet firmly on the ground though.
