I'm not getting to worked up about the result as this is a very competitive division and we are going through transition but I can see why people will be over reacting, coming off the back of a shocking season where we lose week inn week out then find ourselves in a league where we should be competitive with a younger fresh team then to lose at charlton who are tipped by some for relegation so can see the frustration but like dt says let's wait 10 games atleast.
I can handle losing the Ashes but I can't handle my football team losing, why is that? The only positive I can draw on is that we normally get thrashed first game up but that was in the PL, not The Championship .... at Charlton. I just want to see Ramsey keep his mouth shut for two seconds and concentrate on getting the team firing over the next few months.
Just a point of information in this hysterical thread. We were 'among the favourites to go down' in the season when we won the Championship under Warnock. I'm not sure I'm even interested in the views of the vast majority of contributors as they were not even there. The first game of the season is a bit early for me to be deciding the fate of our manager or predicting where we will finish. We are rebuilding. For a fan base that prides itself on the fact that we are loyal in spite of all the downs and only the occasional up in our fortunes some of you appear to be glory hunters in disguise. Go and support the other team in the Borough that plays in blue. To them I say forget accusing someone of being a Fulham supporter in disguise. We know who you all are and won't hesitate to point out your secret allegiances if you continue in this vein. Good night.
The above mititigation is still not sufficient to prove you're not a Count. A QPR Count but still a Wumming Count.
We never win at Charlton. Huge overreactions all over the place on here and on the facebook and twitter feeds. I do think we are going to get caught out by doing significant business late in the window though, it's going to be 5 or 6 games before we get our first choice all together. I think the same could be said of a lot of teams this season though. Not the end of the world, plenty more games in the Champ to get things right.
This is what p!sses me off most not today's result. We're supposed to have learnt from previous years & yet again start the season with an imbalanced squad & with such a change around needed everyone together & getting to gel pre-season so hit the ground running instead will be September at least before can start making real judgement on the team, manager etc.
please log in to view this image It went a bit Eastenders there for a bit! Yes the loosing sucks but only the 1st game and window not shut yet so who knows. Come on U R's!!!!
Excellent summary of how I feel. Probably more disenchanted with the reaction on here than the result today.
Yes thats true if you lose to Charlton by four goals to three. Now we losed 2-0!!!! Cant blame just the defenders, where were our strikers???
Superbly put! All you doom and gloomers on here please take note. Go follow the other club, mind you they only drew against the Jacks, so might be some whining there as well.
At least the result may quell some of the more outlandish expectations some R's fans have for the season. It's going to be a long and tough haul and stabilising our position in the league has to be the ultimate aim. I don't mean to be negative but the number of teams who suffer back to back relegations is high, we must make sure we don't suffer that fate. As for doing our transfer business late, we've brought in 9 players and counting, I'd say Les and co have done remarkably well so far.
Having just watched the PNE/Boro game I've been reminded how frightfully awful the Championship is. The standard is atrocious. Its a terrible division
