Don't see why not. Henderson and Vetokele would strengthen the side, and hopefully Sarr and Bergdich will too when match fit. Watt and Makienok are not a good pairing, so Luzon is giving A-G an opportunity to run on to Big Mak's flick-ons. The bench looks thin, though.

Five of our own products to start (counting Pope) and three more on the bench. Billy will be happy.

What's happened to Junior Hoilett? He was a hot prospect two years ago. I do not remember any serious injury to hamper his career. Watching Jamaica reach the Gold Cup Final with a number of non-league level players (having beaten the full US team), I should think Hoilett would be a star in that team.

Not a bad first half; albeit this vile plump small man synopsis of the match is comical.

    Can't see him running around!

Is this when we say Watt should've started, or praise Luzon for bringing him on?

I hope they spin it that A-G took a knock, as otherwise being replaced at HT won't help his confidence.

Maybe not starting was the prod Watts needed. He cannot last 90 minutes anyway, but I expected him on a bit later.

Watt a start. Academy players in the starting line up, and a fine 2-0 win to set the ball rolling. Missed almost all of this, plus I misread a post on CL which led me to believe we were 3-0 down at half time (don't know where I got that from) so a win is a big improvement. Plus a scorcher from the Fox near the box. Looking forward to the reports from those who went.

Just found out the score. What a result! Sounds like Watt was The game-changer and I'm pleased Fox got a goal. QPR may not be particularly strong but a win is a win.

Look forward to hearing from those who were there.

Good all round performance on the day against a QPR side who gave up after the second goal and looked very woeful.

Solid performance from the defence; I stand by Bauer and Diarra being a good partnership based on well marshalled reading of the game. Solly and Mackie had a good ding dong (guess who won?) and Fox looked adequate and offered a good option out wide.

The midfield appeared to be a diamond, or at least quite narrow; each player put in a shift and Kashi and Ba both impressed. Gudmundsson is a class above.

Wouldn't say Karlan played badly; not sure why Watt was on the bench but he looked sharp when he came on. Not really gonna judge Makienok on today but he was tidy and a nuisance; put himself about a bit and plenty of effort.

Almost forgot Pope; fantastic in all respects today, especially from corners.

It was quite nice to hear Luzon's name cheered. On days like today it doesn't really matter who the component players are or who's in the boardroom; it's just nice to enjoy the moment!

Edit noted. I do concede that a lot of foreigners in the team does impact on predictive text.

Excellent display from the boys. Diarra and Baeur were rock solid and had Austin in their pockets. Kashi was also excellent protecting the back four. Ba and Cousins were very energetic in midfield. But Gudmundsson was the star hitting the bar from a free kick and causing problems for QPR.
But the final praise goes to Pope and Fox. Pope made a couple of good saves and looked assured. Fox did his defensive job well and scored a great second goal.

Not half, especially for Fox. His goal was a real belter, and he had a solid game, even Vol might have to admit that. As did Pope, in addition to one magnificent save at 0-0. We seem to be signing the right type of player now, they all looked pretty committed and did their jobs, although I have doubts about Bergdich although he wasn't on for long.

I thought Bergdich did nothing wrong. Too early to form an opinion on him.

I think I could warm to Big Mak. He's not much good on the ground but wins everything in the air in attack and defence, Maybe he'll become a cult hero like Leaburn, who I see won POTY one year. Wouldn't that please Franco?
First game of the season I'd rather play a side who just came down than one which has just gone up.

Performance from the players great, performance from the club shambolic, abysmal, disgraceful, these words are not strong enough to express my dissatisfaction. Arrived at the ground at 2.15 hoping to collect my season ticket nice a quick and get into the ground, having stood there for 30 minutes and seen what, maybe 20 people actually receive their season tickets from the hundreds of people waiting and still no back up plan, no communication nothing at all to help these supporters standing in the heat.

At 2.55 they pull their fingers out and bring a few tickets out for East stand ask you for your names and how many tickets and off you go, no indication of when / how we'll be getting out season tickets, so I have managed to travel 1.45 minutes to Charlton and still not received my season ticket. The only thing they club did right ( but still took time ), was moving those less able to stand to the front of the queue to get their tickets quicker. There was an elderly man at the back who was hunched over leaning on his walking stick which was upside down, one of the stewards acted quickly and moved him to the front and then this began to be a pattern, although this was frustrating for the rest of us I can't argue with that. But you have to question the organisation, they've known about this for long enough to try and come up with a plan to make it go quickly but yet countless fans are still without their season tickets....
