We look to be one good striker and one commanding defender away from being a decent team. Those kind of players cost a lot of money, though, and spending big is risky (e.g. Ricky). If only we could give Grabban the finishing power of Hooper, or Hooper the work-rate of Grabban. Oh well, 45 minutes to go.
I honestly think you're being harsh on Grabban - that was full stretch, it wasn't a miss. What he needed to do was miss the ball altogether! It sounds weird, but I'm not going to get overly worked up about Whittaker getting turned inside out by Zaha. Yes, it's frustrating, but frankly this is the Premier League and no matter who we have at fullback, someone is going to get torn to pieces by the winger. What's frustrating is that key move-starting players went to sleep from about the 30 minute mark, as if the game was at half time. Or maybe the ref got to them. But to see Tettey hit an easy clearance header straight to Cabaye, Dorrans giving the ball away twice, Hoolahan twice, Whittaker and Brady once each - I mean come on guys, just don't get caught on the ball and stop holding onto it so long. Pass and move. Our supposed "weak point" in defence - the CBs - have actually done nothing wrong really.
The open goal aside, he's just not in the game, we're putting crosses in and he's no where near them.
