Just being a turd burglar as usual. If you can't figure out how fsg have grown since the aquisition you are blind.
Yes lol Still never stuck up for H&G. He just never criticised them (on the LFC site). Everything he wrote was reviewed before being published so criticism of H&G wouldn't have been allowed on the club site, he criticised them elsewhere though.
Just goes to show though. .... you can find him denying what others wrote. There's a long way from publishing an approved article with fluff about players and going out seeking other writers who dare to call lfc like they see it. Anyway...... Tompkins has his views. Some are cogent but sone are not but all are questionable in my mind as does he really think or is it what he thinks people want to hear.
As far as I know he still writes for lfctv and has done since 2005. He's said in interview several times that, looking back, he even disagrees with himself with things he's previously written about. He admitted his view on H&G had changed and withdrew his book in 2007. He said: The original idea had been simply to bring out ebooks of my early titles, but I’m not sure that all aspects of those books have aged well. I withdrew “Above Us Only Sky” in 2007 after it sold incredibly well (my fastest-ever seller), as the first doubts about Gillett and Hicks emerged – the chapters on their ownership suddenly looked naive. Some of my other books also have what I now look back on as substandard analysis, with the kind of mistakes I see budding football writers now making. Quite refreshing to hear a writer say that. Given the subject matter, doing a u-turn comes with the territory. Us amateurs are doing it all the time. I admire his courage of conviction to put pen to paper and as he claims himself, it's just another opinion!
he left and returned. he is very rarely on lfc.com. naivie is a nice way to put it... bit revisionist but i suppose if he wants to call it that and be forgiven as a lot of use could see them for what they were before him,
Well, not quite to the point where they haven't made mistakes. They have, but nothing so serious that a new owner and new entrant to the sport wouldn't be expected to make. Some mistakes were just football related - Comolli as the DoF pissed away a huge chunk of their investment off the bat. DoF's work around the world, we just chose one that saw dollar signs in his eyes and overspent on average players (with exceptions). Overall I don't wake up worrying about the future. I wake up worrying about Rodgers' future and our immediate success - but that's now due to the squad and not due to external issues. I'm glad FSG are on board and I hope they stick around for a while.
Some good points. The club's future is pretty certain, [barring FSG doing a H&G which seems unlikely], Rodger's, not so much, but building for the future very much depends on Rodgers actions so the immediate future has them inextricably linked.
new england sports network.... think on that guys. they have all the red sox games on that plus our game son delay. one of these days a new tv deal is inevitbale where clubs self broadcast.... think about it... the top say 5/6 clubs are in effect subsidising the rest massively compared to spain (which i feel is a bit unfair) The new stand will pay for itself, then it will be the anfield road end and when thats done and the fans are being milked on concessions etc the centenary stand will be next.. it might take 10 years more but it will be done. people can bleat an moan all they want but LFc have sunk a **** load of mone yinto transfers and the ground and are breaking even doing so... the future is bright enough.
