Exactly, I couldn't do that to you guys

They should be able to compartmentalise their role as fans and their role as professional football players. If they can't, then they have no business being a footballer.

I would have no qualms about playing for Southampton.

Eastleigh are a team on the up.

Would you say Jose Fonte made a backwards step in the "interests of his career" when he dropped a division to sign for Saints when he is now a Premier League/International defender...?

Most footballers play football because they want to play football - If Dan, both as a player and a Saints fan thinks he's happier playing for an aspirational non league side that is chasing league status than he would be playing for a league team that used to be good, but isn't any more then how is that unprofessional? He's still playing football for a living which makes him by definition, professional. Perhaps he hates the idea of having to play week in week out in front of some mutant with a bell in a Victorian shed

I wonder if you have ever, ever complained about a footballer not having enough passion, or "wanting it" as much as you?

Think about your statement; it smacks of sporting ignorance.

We like to look at a 5-6 year period before crowing about an upward curve on a graph :)

Just give it up PL, if football teams were Charles Schultz characters, Saints would be Snoopy, whereas pompey would be Pigpen.

To be fair, I posted that before today's match, but after today's match I think you may have had a point!

You're living in the past PL....for goodness sake! Let it go mate nobody on this Forum is interested in what Pompey does today, or did yesterday anymore. For your info I saw Pompey in their heyday and compared to todays teams in the top division trust me the standard then was no better than todays top div one/bottom championship. There was one thing that was good about them and all professional footballers of that era, the fact they actually respected their club and other clubs.....including Saints.

You are right Beddytare. I am more concerned about Havant and Waterlooville these days.
