The last few seasons Rodgers has been bullied by Gerrard into including him in his starting XI even when he wasn't performing.

Gerrard leaving came about Rodgers telling him he wouldn't start every game anymore. Two years ago Rodgers made the quote he intended SG to start every other game but Gerrard managed to push his way into every starting XI even when he was exhausted and not up to par.

We have a new captain now, and one whom I wouldn't expect to be on the sub bench much. He's energetic and critical for the team.

If he started to slump do you think Rodgers would have the balls to bench him? Was Gerrard a special case because he was so huge and historically influential, or do you fear, like me that Rodgers is too much a nice guy and a pushover who let's influential figures walk over him?

No - he does't have balls. Quick to blame those around him but never takes responsibility himself.

And he was afraid of Gerrard's influence but he would have played him anyways. Just like he persisted with dross like Lovren and Johnson in the back 4.

Putting it bluntly, Rodgers believes the sun shines out his own ar5se. He can do no wrong in his own eyes. He played Gerrard bcos he wanted to. He dropped him against Real Madrid bcos he wanted to. Bottling it doesnt come into it. He's a narcissist.

Can't say I've noticed that too much, he always uses the collective nouns when referring to performances and includes the whole team in his assessment. In public, that is- what he does in private I've no idea, but I think there's a lot of conclusions jumped to on here every time someone sees something they don't like.
A manager is paid to manage, and that's what he has to do as long as he's in the job.

As to the OP- I think Gerrard was a special case as he was a club legend long before BR got here. It's up to Rodgers to make sure that none of his players get to the point where they believe they're more important than anything else.

He constantly made digs about the committee and having players forced on him. Not to mention throwing young players under the bus when we dropped points but never criticised the senior players. And mentioning Mario every week even when he wasn't playing.

Rather than complain about having players imposed on you, how about he actually works with those players, tries to develop them and get the best out of them, rather than drop them and kill their confidence?

Rather than criticise youngsters, how about he looks at the people who actually let us down last year which were the senior players and have balls to have a go at them instead of the easy targets.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Haha, its a quote from Billy Madison. But it is a stupid comment. Every manager makes decisions based on what they think. To criticise Rodgers based on the fact he picks the team is a really odd thing to do.

The stupidity is in your response mate. The title of the thread and the OP asked the question if he lacked the balls (to drop a player). My post answered that point perfectly. You cant argue against any of it, you simply didnt like it.

I didnt criticise Rodgers for the team he picks. I argued against his lacking balls bcos he's high on himself, which everyone including you knows he is.
