with the Fee and M'Vila deals reportedly loans we should really have a sizeable chunk of money to spend.

As far as I see it £9m from Wickham.
    £5m saved on Downing
    £2m saved on Lombaerts.

That's £16m. + whatever the budget was originally.

Are we readying ourselves for a record breaking deal to wrap up our summer spending? Surely we have to sign a striker to round things off?

if we buy a striker I reckon another 10m player.
I really don't think he would splash extra cash just because we saved on a couple of others, happy to be proved wrong though.

My worry is that DA said the other day that with four strikers on the books that one had to go (although Conner wasn't necessarily the one) which suggests to me that we are not going to sign an out and out striker. If we go into next season with only Graham and Fletcher as back up too Defoe then we are playing with fire. They didn't get enough goals last season and I know the hope is our revitalised midfield will give them a better supply I still think we are short handed up front.

If we sold Wickham because we had too many strikers do we now have the right number? (Note: I said the right number not the right strikers). If we bought another we`d have too many again.

If the right deal came along Short may well sanction it but I think one in one out would be his preference. That wages limit always seems to play a big part.

Change Wickham to 6m as that's all we got upfront, the rest is add ons. The money from Downing and Lombaerts was part of the original budget and still part of the budget now so it's basically 6m plus remaining budget left to spend. The remaining budget should be decent like. The original budget isn't still intact though, you've forgot 7m for Lens the 4m for Kaboul, 2m for Coates and 2m for Mathews so the original budget is down 15m on incoming. connors 6m mill means the original budget is 9m down. If we had a 30m budget we're still talking 21m to spend so there's every chance we can smash it.

We could if the right player becomes available. Right player for me regardless of price. Would be nice for a January kitty too. We may need some cash to steer ourselves clear or best case scenario, strengthen to chase a Europa spot.

Seydou Doumbia surplus at Roma now that Dzeko has signed.

Only moved in January for around £10m. One we've been linked with before

I saw what you did there.:emoticon-0105-wink:

I reckon saving a bit of dosh for January is fair enough. I wouldn`t be surprised if Ellis has written off the idea of getting anything back for Graham and Fletcher.

Graham tries but isn`t capable. Fletch is/was capable but isn`t trying. That could change in the last year of his contract though. Personally I wouldn`t extend it anyway. If that`s the only time he tries then bollix to him,

If the right deal came along I reckon Short would say ok but it would have to be something special.

When we finally shift Fletcher and Graham off the books it will free up a lot of money.

I can't see it myself, unless Fletcher goes it wages that are our problem not the transfer fee itself.

I expect 1 more loan and that will be us done, unless someone exceptional becomes available who will come and does not want a fortune in wages.

He very good but I don't beleive the link. 4 summer running we've been linked with him. It just seems like another 'Keane', 'Nzogbia' can't take seriously link. I'd love it if we got him, though he isn't a striker, he plays where Connor played last season. Just can't see beyond the bullshit of the past.

Austin may not fit what Dick wants from a striker. He may want more adaptability rather than an out an out. We'll have our targets fella don't worry. Trust in Dick.

Who was the last striker to come through your youth setup that you would say was a successful player?

Well we got £5 million from Leeds for Mickey Bridges in 1999. Reckon he would have become a tidy player if he hadn't been constantly broken
