January Transfers

Nothing done so far other than McCartney. We are crying out for a commanding midfielder in the centre of the park who will break up the opposition's play and stop our leaky defence being so exposed. I don't want a six month loanee in February who will go all McSheffrey on us - let's get a proper signing in for some money and show our intent to get promoted.

 

Trouble is teams tend to hold on to the players who easily hold their place in their team. Could you see Leeds letting any of our regulars out on loan !
It needs a proper transfer with lots of loot to bring top class players in at this stage of the season. Loans are just a way of stop paying some moderate players wages for a while.

I think we have a good chance with the squad we have...trust in the manager ( and Bates ??)

I forgot to mention Andy O'Brien in the OP.

Kris Commons has just left Derby for £300k, so it's not like every club who wants to keep a player can do. When there's a will, there's a way, and let's not forget we don't just have to look at English or even British players. A midfield leader for around £1m would make me happy. Hell, we've probably still got enough money left from the Arsenal cup ties to buy ourselves a quality player at this level. We can't have spent it all on McCartney's wages like Bates says.

Agree haywagon, you never know with us, we could have something done already, or not, you never know, SG said he was gonna use this "break" before our next game to get someone in, we'll have to wait and see.

 

Grayson has players in mind, reading between the lines were waiting for other clubs to bring players in before the player we want are available

Tom Elliot's contract terminated
Fede Bessone gone on loan to Charlton for the rest of the season with option to buy
Gonzalez brought in from Man City on loan for the rest of the season

Paul Connolly moving to Sheff Utd
Darren Pratley

Any of those four happening would be good news as far as I'm concerned. Well played on clearing out our surplus players too.
