I have seen Black Sails, great series so far. I probably need more then one to get over 9 weeks of doing nothing.
It's a fairly gritty story on the 30 years that elapsed before the Treasure Island adventure happened. Characters include Captain Flint [Lieutenant James McGraw], John Silver [still with two legs], Billy Bones, and several other characters who appear in the R L Stevenson story. This one is definitely not for kids, but then neither was Treasure Island until Disney made us all think it was.
Having forced myself to read the books (the story started well and slowly spiraled downwards so it became a case of "l have started so l will finish" only to realise too late that there is no finish because the author had lost the plot - which was pretty evident after the third book) l cannot bring myself to watch the series. l get the impression that they have made the series more entertaining than the books; which must be a 'first' as its usually the other way around.
I only watch GoT because I want to know how it ends. Think I may be dead before they get to the end though , either that or I'll just give up on it, especially if all the decent ones keep getting killed. It's like a book which you start and don't really like but carry on with just to see how it ends, because it might get better.......and then you find out you really shouldn't have bothered.
Winter is going to come to Westeros at some point, allegedly, and dragons may or may not cause all sorts of mayhem when Daenerys gets her act together and actually invades, or doesnt invade, or dies. That is of course only if George R R doesnt die himself before he finishes writing the damned series.
I wish she'd just get on her dragons and incinerate the lot of them! Well maybe not Tyrion. At least two more series to go... sigh.
Just watched the final episode of the second series of Black Sails, and finally, finally John Silver is one leg down [oh come on, that's hardly a spoiler.! ] so the next time we see them the crew will undoubtedly name him Long John.
