Can anybody tell me just exactly where this section of grass was when Boothferry Park was around, I'm guessing walking out onto the pitch from the dugouts and slightly to the left, Thoughts? I ask because my dad's ashes were scattered here earlier when myself,my sister and brother laid my dad to rest
Sorry BoothferryLegend, I cannot help you with your question as I have not seen the redevelopment of BP. May I ask whether it was your late dad's request for such a resting place, or was it yourself & your brother & sister who chose it as he was an avid City fan ? Or maybe you all discussed it before the sad day ? It may seem an odd question, and I hope not too intrusive, and I will fully understand if you do not feel like answering it.but my will still stipulates that I would like to have the same done with my ashes, to be spread on the pitch in Boothferry Park. Of course, that is not possible anymore, yet my son & (ex) wife still ask me what happens now since the change in venues have sort of nullified that possibility. If you are the same BoothferryLegend who has posted all the stupendous historical Hull City stuff on various media, I would imagine that Hull City AFC was very much a family love affair, and I see why you & your siblings would want to pin-point your dad's exact final resting place. I hope someone does manage to confirm your inquiry. On a personal note, I think I can be now re-assured that I can keep that clause in my own will as I never realized that the new development had retained a piece of City's legacy in the form of a plot of grass. Thank you for that information, and I salute your family & your late departed dad.
I don't know if this will help but looking at the "Google Map" (Earth View) the area you have mentioned appears to be somewhere between the Corner flag and Goal at the North Stand end. Pretty difficult unless someone has an old aerial view of Boothferry Park prior to demolition and can superimpose it over the current site. Looking at the current 'Earth View' of that area and seeing where the railway line is I would guess that the area is approximately where I have stated. Hope this helps.
If you download Google earth (it's free and a brilliant bit of kit) then you can automatically look at Google maps and then overlay previous dates.
Something like this....... http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rob-nichols-ayresome-park-tour-9141719
I'm sure I remember reading about some sort of memorial being installed as part of the housing development, but I can't remember what it was now.
Thanks for these replies, I got the date wrong oops ha it was yesterday Sunday the 2nd. Yes I do post photos and do a group on BP photos and memories on Facebook with also video's on YouTube, been a while since though with the latest edition being either Queen or James Blunt! But anyway yes it was me and my brother / Sisters idea more than my dad's wish but throughout dad's whole life with us he'd fill our heads with stories about Raich Carter and the Needlers and Waggy and Chillo so it was a place that was close to his heart, dad was born in 1929 so he was at boothferry parks first game up until the middle 80's when visits were less frequent but he got me tagging also from 1985 so then I was hooked, yesterday the 3 of us drove slowly around the whole area and decided upon the area in the picture, it rained last night so that pleased us and so he's nicely tucked in for one for word without sounding morbid.
This photo shows the entrance were the away team coaches pulled in off north Road, the grass area is just so far down on the left (opposite that 2nd white house)
It would have been nice for say a map of the old site to have been put up somewhere on the development to show where things were compared to what is on site now. However, ....... The whole development of BP has been a complete bodge. Unless you are the size of Ronnie Corbett the houses are way too small for many. Rabbit Hutch homes or what ?

Yeah I looked at one recently. They look nice but there's absolutely **** all space inside. Three storeys with basically one room on each.
I think it was the naming of some of the streets/roads that would acknowledge the past of Hull City on the land now occupied by houses.
