I like the odd flutter on the footy, so thought we could share any attractive odds, offers we might come across...

There are always plenty of promos about, but as more people tend to have a little wager on big occasions I thought this one might be of interest to some.

9/1 for us to win (£5 bet) and a free £20 bet if you lose.

    Happy days :)

I have very little understanding of betting, or the intricacies of odds (despite my old man always having flutters on the horses). But would you say that the odds in the bookies are good indicators that a transfer will happen, or are they just going on what fans would like/hope to happen, and take advantage of that?

(ie if you saw Guardiola was 3/1 to join Man C next season, then you'd be fairly confident of it happening)

It's a bit of both. Initially odds would be based on form or information, then we start betting and if a lot of money is placed on a certain horse/player then the bookies will reduce the odds. For the bookie it's a balance of risk management and enticing us to make bets with a low chance of winning.

9/1 is exceptionally good if you believe we have a chance :)

Was that 9/1 to win today or to win the league ?

Nice one Fella. I think I might have a little flutter if any bookies give us long odds. I've got a good feeling about this season <ok>

    You liar!

It was an introductory offer, bookies do them all the time. Generally with a maximum stake of £5.

There's no way bookies would have been offering 9/1 for Arsenal to beat Chelsea with a £50 stake (which is what you must have used to win £450).

You could always upload the betting slip and prove me wrong of course...

    Dear ****,

You are an insignificant piece of knob cheese. Why would I give a second thought to providing you with proof?

It's true though, no way any bookie gave you 9/1 odds with a stake as high as £50 for us to beat Chelsea, I know our recent record against them is poor, but the bookies are not that dumb.

    Thought so <laugh>

Why don't you just admit that you were found out lying, it's really not a big issue. We've all told the odd fib to our friends in the playground...
