Hull City AFC existed before Apple, Twitter & Google were even glints in their parents' eyes.. and we'll outlive them too..
That's why they put together a panel of experts who review all the evidence and then make a recommendation to the full FA Council. It's a great statement, it guarantees any further application has even less chance of success than the first two.
Allam is fundamentally right, short punchy names are far better for advertising and commercial branding, more so on a world stage. Allam is spot on with the business need for a short name, shame he doesnt get the heritage of a sports team. If only he, and a majority of fans, could see the middle ground to combine hertiage and business
I have to laugh when he comes out with that mouthful because although it is the business name the club is never marketed under that name. Everyone knows us as Hull City which is actually shorter than Hull Tigers.
Football consumers in the 'Far East' (wherever that mythical place is) are interested in teams that do one thing only - win things. The ONLY way to make those people spend money on stuff related to Hull City is for the club to win things. Assem Allam wanted our stadium - nothing more, nothing less - anything else he comes out with is noise.
^^^THIS^^^ Beat me too it OLM AA has no chance of winning again after calling them names BBC ARTICLE: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33751376
Here, L'Olympique Lyonnais is nicknamed L'OL but they haven't changed the name You don't need to The fans call it that.. just as we call Hull City AFC "City" or "The Tigers"..
Well agree but I don't think they will. They will either say nothing or something along the lines that they will leave their options open for the future.
Hull City Tigers Association Football Club? What's amateurish is not knowing the name you want to change. The man's a ****.
So, Hull City, which has the same number of letters as Coca Cola, is shorter than Hull Tigers is it not? No one has ever referred to our club as Hull City Tigers or Hull City Tigers Association Football Club. The man, and anyone who agrees with his nonsense, is an idiot.
'They are local, not global. Premier League decisions should be made by the Premier League Council.' It's not a Premier League decision. The FA are the governing body who make desisions regarding such applications & besides we're not in the PL you thick amateurish ****.
The 76-year-old businessman added: "Look at Google, Apple, Twitter. You don't go out to the world and say 'We are Hull City Tigers Association Football Club When I read that I ****ing laughed out loud - in my 40+ years I've never called my team Hull City Tigers Association Football Club - is this what he thought we were called when he bought us.... Of course it isn't... And if he did - or does think we're called HCTAFC - who's the amateur?
