Well, let's hope we don't get any injuries or red cards during the season then, because the cupboard is pretty bare. If Caulker goes (to Southampton according to the Daily Fail yesterday) that would leave us with just two CBs (Hill and Onuoha). With that first choice back line, we may perform as well as we did last year and only let in 73 goals. Personally, even last season, I thought our defence needed improving and more cover, rather than sticking to an ever smaller group of familiar names.
What do you mean during the season? I’m not sure if you are aware but the transfer window doesn’t close on 8th August. Do you know something I don’t? Have you found some loop hole in the FA rule book that means if a defender is sent off during the game against Charlton we will be allowed to sub on a new defender provided we have signed him recently and he is really really good? Don’t disagree that we are light on numbers at the back but there is time to change that And as for 73 goals, don’t worry Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane and Hazard don’t play in the Championship. But they will face Emile Heskey, Sanchez Watt and…. Will Keane Last time we were in this league we conceded 44 goals in 46 games. Just remember this is a league where the team of the season centre backs last year were Russel Martin and Andy Keogh.
West London Sport, is reporting this now as a possibility. Am I entirely wrong but we do only have two other real CDs (Ned and Clint) in the entire club (with the German Schorch as a trialist, and reputedly not very good) Have I forgotten anyone who could step up? I do not get this, but there must be a plan musn't there???
BBC reporting about to sign on loan to Southampton. not sure what defenders we will have left. It also seems our policy to move out signed young players ala Mutch, Mcarthy and now Caulker. Not good this business model
This from the beeb rolling news website... Caulker a Saint? Football Posted at12:47 Southampton are set to complete the loan signing of QPR defenderSteven Caulker, Press Association is reporting. Toby Alderweireld's departure to Tottenham and a serious knee injury sustained by Florin Gardos has heightened the need to bring in defensive reinforcements at St Mary's. Here he is taking out - sorry, tackling - James Milner. please log in to view this image Getty Images Share Share this post on Twitter Facebook Read more about these links.
Well unless we got defenders coming in quickly I don't know what to think, crazy unless he's got something in his contract stipulating he can go if offer comes in, hope we know what we are doing!
Looks like Caulker is really going. He has not been highly rated, but the form (loan) and timing (very late) has created much emotion (panic) on the various message boards. I hope that we soon get some new defensive recruitments which will help us better understand this decision. Anyway, only 10 days until we kick-off the new season. I already hear the comments or excuses of "but the team needs to gell".
Apparently he is having a medical now so looks almost done. Can only assume we have some others coming in and I am sure that is the case. To be honest I can't see him getting many games there based on last seasons performances.
The whole story smells of bullshit to me, not going to get myself wound up unless something actually happens.
Can't believe that the season starts in 11days we have one proper center back Onuoha! WTF! why are we loaning out Caulker. What happened to bring in 7 players by the start of July. You need 4 center backs in a squad!
http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-bank-1-5m-as-caulker-joins-saints I'm now officially worried about our defence
Don't panic. The fat lady isn't singing for the end of the pre-season quite yet ... let alone the end of the transfer window. Plenty lined up to come in ..... maybe .... possibly .... if we're lucky ..... I hope .....
