They didn't sign Argentina, just their backup keeper. Only the pressure on the keeper is relevant. Which is almost zero in a shootout. Romero had 5 chances. (And his teammates had another 5 chances). Mignolet had 1 chance. No one plays a game of football thinking it's only one game. Professionals think right now this is the only game.
There was an Asian guy trying to take a selfie with a massive selfie stick one of the last times I was there. He did get a shed load of abuse and got told off by the steward but he was just a typical Thomas Cook Liverpool fan with his 2 bags full of merchandise from the club shop and his new Liverpool kit and hat. He knew none of the songs, none of the traditions and just generally one of those obtuse people who sits for 90 minutes sticking a camera in people's face any time a chant gets going. People like that might add to the club's coffers but they really don't help the atmosphere because they don't sing themselves and they discourage other people around them from singing because of the constant surveillance on them. Basically a lot of the current woes can be traced back to the club selling/giving tickets to people like Thomas Cook who sell these crazily priced packages to tourists who know nothing about the club, only what they've seen on TV.
Probably because you'd look really stupid shouting "What the **** Rodgers, we concede an average of 2.25 goals per game with Skrtel in the league and 1.54 without him, that means we improve our performance 0.71 goals per game without Skrtel, why the **** are we playing him?"
Is this at the game talk or down the pub talk? At the game it's us against them. Down the pub it's more "analytical" if you could call it that.
YMCA What the, **** Rodgers we concede an av-erage of 2point 25 goals per game with Skrtel in the league and 1 - point - 5 - 4 with - out - him dum dum dum dum dum that means we improve OUR PERFORMANCE 0.71 goaaaaals per gameeeeee without Skrtel why the **** are we play ing himmmmmmmmm
The problem is neither AVB nor Pep style defenders will win a massive amount in England (unless they adapt). Jose style on the other hand......well we all know how that ends up don't we and that's the whole point for me. Defending is a simple thing, there's nothing complicated about setting up a decent back four for English football...unless you're trying to reinvent the wheel Rodgers style. Just for the record the Sakho vs Skrtel stats: Key passes per game...Sakho 0.3, Skrtel 0.2 (both piss poor but then they are centre backs) Pass complete %....Sakho 89.4, Skrtel 90.1 (nothing in it really) Long balls...Sakho 2.8 per game, Skrtel 2 (so neither play too many) Sakho makes more tackles (by a small margin), Skrtel makes more interceptions (by a tiny margin), Skrtel more blocks (by a large margin) Skrtel more clearances (by a massive margin). Skrtel also wins the most headers by a fair margin He also played 1500 more minutes this season Add to all that the extra "giving a ****" factor and that's why I don't get the Skrtel bashing from some on here that's all
I get your point about pub discussions but I don't think people really bring passing percentages & stats of that kind into a pub discussion. You'd probably get a lot of awkward stares. You judge players on what you've seen of them only, you might mention how many goals they've scored but other stats don't really come into it.
Who backs off and off and off and off until they get to their 18 yard box before stopping, but by that point it's too late and the forward has acres of space to either have a free shot from 20 yards or play a key pass though
Haven't heard it for a long time so couldn't remember how the start of the song went. Its not a weekly thing in other parts of the country you know #Brighton
What's truly embarrassing is calling Can, Coutinho and Benteke world class talents! They obviously thought it was an embarrassment too far to include Balotelli in that claim.
If you start in a proper position you don't need to back off at all you know....like a proper defensive position that works as well now in England as it's done for the past few decades #joseknowsit #wengerforgotit #baconfaceknewit #rafaknewit #kennyknewit #Paisleyknewit #Shanksknewit #eventonyfuckingpullisknowsit #etcetc
Totally agree... start in a position and don't need to back off as you can win the ball. But Skrtel doesn't like it, he wants to drop deep and defend his 18 yard box which as we've had no proper DM in place allows players to just run at him. Because of that and the fact he's not the best 1v1 defender I think he feels more comfortable just backing off so he can't be beaten. Occassionaly fine as allows others to come back and cover, but often it leaves big space for forwards to progress into and gives them a free shot. Skrtel no doubt has a place in the squad and is better than Lovren/Toure/Ilori (although I'd love to see Ilori given a proper go) and he does have strengths. I've said many times as the spare man in a back 3 he's all you could ask for. Someone that will attack the ball in the air and is comfortable in coming out and covering, knows his limitations on the ball so having 2 CB's either side and a CM infront means he will always have an easy pass on as well so won't ut team under pressure with a bad pass forward.
