No. Thats the reality of it. Last season was almost over before Young contributed something. For all his good play he had absolutely no end product. Running a lot tends to be pointless without an end product. It benefits nobody. Again, typical english attitudes. Its no wonder we are miles and miles and miles behind.
It's not just that he had 1 good season. He was without doubt our most improved player. When a player does that, you should hold on to him and he's earned it.
Incredible. He got us out of a pickle on many occasions. Di Maria could not displace him. And that surely must mean something.
Most improved? Its easy to do when you were previously the worst player in the squad (could argue on both points that Fellaini takes the crown). Like I said, a new contract should be given, if only to ensure we get a fee.
It's not easy to do at all as a winger But it is moreso when you're a lumbering mophead who's only role is to tackle and be on the end of a punt up field. One requires skill and some degree of football intelligence. The other requires brawn but nothing much else.
The irony in your cries for Youngs new contract while completely dismissing Fellaini (far bigger) contribution out of hand.
Now Young is not good enough for United ? when he was one of our better players last season. Whenever there comes a time for loyalty from our fans, you'll probably be at the end of the queue...
So one requires the two things ashley young doesnt have while the other requires the one thing Fellaini has in abundance?
He was lucky to be at United. His performances last season were very good when compared to the previous few years but were way, way below the level expected of a side that should be challenging. Its as if years of ****e can be forgotten due to a few runs. Some really are easily impressed.
Shaun Wright Phillips has just joined some MLS side. Like Young he runs a lot but contributes very little to the overall cause. Perhaps you have found a new home. Your dig at Stoke is about as wayward as your views on both Young and Fellaini btw, you're a few years out
Yes UIR. Having been though the likes of Sexton, Tommy Doc and Big Ron as well as Fergie, of course I am easily impressed by the hype !!
Unsure as to what 4 of Uniteds last 6 managers have to do with the fact Ashley Young isnt good enough for a United side who want to compete at the very top.
wasn't he part of a title winning side? Wasn't he MOTM on many occasions (aprt form DG) last season? My mentioning the other managers was that I have seen different types of players playing for United - not just Fergie's ones. United cannot just have one type of player and hope to have a winning team. When Young delivers and displaces someone like Di Maria you have to acknowledge it. Di Maria may be a world class player but he has hardly delivered for us. Young has.
What did young deliver? In terms of contribution he was about the same as the previous few seasons, where, every united fan to a man, thought he was absolutely ****e. In his first season, without question his best, he scored 6 goals and made 7 in 25 games. This included ripping Arsenal to shreds in the 8-2 win (scored two crackers). That was good, that was Ashley Young at his very best. Last season he scored 2 and assisted 5 in 26 games. He certainly wasnt creating much, he certainly wasnt scoring much. 90% of his crosses knocked out fan way back on row Z but he ran a lot. Never forget just how much he ran. People g on like he was one of the best around, he was average. It just so happens that he was so bad previously, that average is a ****ing massive step up. Like going from a Ssangyong to a Kia.
