I have been impressed with Yoshida. I had formed the opinion that he wasn't quite good enough and wouldn't get a new contract, but he has been a revelation under Koeman. He was kept out by Toby, but when called upon he was good last season and (with the extra emphasis on set pieces mentioned by Ron) may turn into a goal machine. Seems a nice lad as well.
Twitter reporting a friendly reserve game between Saints and Feyenoord this morning, Saints won 2 - 1 Sean Long and JRod the scorers, no mention on the OS yet.
I think you may be right about McQueen and Isgrove but would like to see Gallagher on load for the season as he was out injured most of last year
'Juanmi There's only Juan-mi There's only Juan-mi....' Yes it doesn't fit, but when did that ever stop anyone? Or (like one-nil to the Southampton) 'Juan-mi for the Southampton, Juan-mi for the Southampton, etc.'
To Bump.... Saints final first team friendly is tomorrow at St Marys - 3pm KO against Espanyol. Koeman has already announced that Jay Rodriguez will be starting and Caulker is likely to have his first outing in a Saints shirt. Basically anyone from the squad who didn't start against Vitesse is likely to be part of the game. Expected Squad: Gazzaniga, Davis, Martina, McCarthy, Caulker, Turnbull, Debayo, Wood, Reed, Ward-Prowse, Juanmi, Little, Gape, McQueen, Isgrove, Rodriguez, Long Seager & Gaston remain injury doubts for this match. Bertrand is closer to a return to training, but this match will be too soon.
Wonder how the tickets have gone...probably suffered from being after the Europa game (though they did do a ticket deal). Will be at this game....usually missed friendlies when I was working, so was determined this time....and only cost £5.
I like Yoshida a lot too. Him v Everton at home was one of the individual performances of the season.
