Sakho was PSG captain before he'd even reached 20. He can clearly lead and organise, but I still believe that language was the big factor preventing him from doing so for us so far. I think as he plays more in the league and just lives in the UK, he'll grow in confidence with speaking out. I, like many others, would like to see Sakho and Ilori play as a partnership, but also recognise that the odds of that happening are about zero for this season. Ilori was halfway out the door but no one would pay what we wanted, so I can't see him getting many chances. Gomez is getting a chance at LB to make it his own and see if he copes since Enrique is dead and Moreno is a more attacking option for some games/formations but not trusted defensively. Sakho's going nowhere btw. Lazio enquired, we said no and he's got a new contract on the table.

I would expect to see Sakho and Skrtel starting and Lovren backup. Gomez and Clyne to start with Moreno having to sit on the bench and force his way ahead.

Only thing I'm not so sure on is where Wisdom fits into it all. He's clearly a CB, built like a tank, but can cover RB. He's not going to get any chances there though with Clyne playing. In two years, hopefully we'll be picking between Sakho, Ilori, Wisdom and Gomez.

There's no difference in the meaning of Center or Centre both are acceptable I would suggest. Centre is also the preferred spelling in France though.

Either is acceptable I just took joy in the opportunity of linking RHC to France no matter how tenuous. :)

I don't think we'll see anything but Skrtel - Sakho at the start of season. With Kolo and Lovren as back up.
We're day dreaming, that Rodgers is going to risk Ilori, Gomez, or Wisdom.
Best option is that they get some League cup, early Europa league games.
The worst thing, so far this pre-season, was Skrtel getting a contract extension. He's a committed player, but as we've seen, when he played with Cara, Agger, Lovren, Sakho, he simply cant play in a centre back pairing.
There we either play with 1 or 3 Cb's.
How about we go old skool and re-introduce the sweeper. I think Skrtel could play this role.

    Skrtel
    Clyne Ilori Sakho Moreno

It's a shame that Ilori hasn't been available all pre-season.
Would have been perfect chance for him to get a few games

Dunno..wasn't skrts original beef during contract negotiations that he refused to link money with appearances? Does that tell us that the very fact the club wanted it in there they didn't see him as a guaranteed starter so wanted to Dave some money?

It sounds like they backed off contract wise but he may yet not be seen as the vital cog lol

True, but having just given him a new contract, can't see them dropping him so quickly otherwise why not just not give him one.

Still no idea why we got rid of Aggar! Him and Skrtel, although not incredible, were better than what we have now.

If we had them last season, I'm convinced we'd have had a few more points than we finished on.

Anyway's to the current situation. Not convinced by any of the combination, Sakho and Skrtel best of a bad bunch.

I'd actually go as far to say sell Lovren, looks mentally traumatised by last season. I don't think he makes anyone's starting line-up and as a back up is a pretty **** one. I'd rather give kolo and the young lads the nod over him.

I personally didn't see one performance or even 45 mins where I thought 'you know what, this kids got something!' I would love to be proved wrong but looks like another terrible buy.

Agger was injured to much and due to his high salary he was costing the club to much.

In Rodgers first season he gambled with Sterling, Suso and Wisdom. The following season he put Flanagan in there. Last year it was Ibe.

Can could play the sweeper (if coached there). Would be a Beckenbauer type - picks the ball up from deep and begins the attacks.
