Could this really be my day? After weeks of a few people being unable to phone me, despite the fact I could phone them, the problem has been sorted. Seems as if the old ISP did a bit of a botched job when I became fed up with them and changed supplier. They are now trying to get me back with offers of fibre, not available in the sticks, cheap 5G phones that are unsupported here, maximum 2G if the wind is in the right direction, and half price internet for 6 months. They do not realize how low my opinion of them really is. The Météo is forecasting the possibility of storms overnight and tomorrow morning. Could this actually bring some rain? I think my potato crop is probably lost due to the heat and dry conditions, but there are other things that I have kept going with rain water collected from my shed roof. It would be good to have a day off tomorrow from watering. Seems as if I have bought eleven tickets via the web-site in the past three years, not all for me, so I think the overseas fan will be trying to get his tickets via that route. The price for the aged is not too bad.
Everton ticket sorted... handy having two desktop pc's and several credit cards when dealing with tou..., erm, ticketmaster. Mrs H-F is a star!
Well no rain arrived and now we are officially in drought conditions with water restrictions in place. Farmers have to reduce their use of it by 50% and you cannot fill your 50 metre swimming pool. Car washing is allowed outside the hours of 8.00 am and 6.00 pm if you use a bucket and sponge. Blue Elephant car wash centres will really suffer. We are lucky as we are served by two huge underground reservoirs, and are unlikely to run out, but a few kilometres to the west they could have the pipes dry up without the rationing.
We have seen it before, but not for several years. In the Spring I was wishing it would stop raining as weeks went by when the ground was too wet to do anything with it. Probably by the end of the year it will average itself out. The climate here is often one of extremes. Winter days and nights can be very cold, but that does not last long. Unlike the UK when the season can drag on for ever, by February we are moving into Spring.
My recent trip to the UK was timed well. My very special Aunt died yesterday. So, I will be coming to her memorial service sometime in the next few weeks and will be looking for a ticket for whoever we are playing. That sounds rather hard - as if that is the only thing I am thinking about, which it isn't. However this is a Watford board and I'm not going to bore you all with the other stuff.
Very pleased that you made that trip in time to meet her for the last time NZ. It can be more difficult if you don't feel that you did everything possible. May you have the fondest memories of her.
Good morning all, sorry for your loss NZ, at least you have some recent cherished memories! Have a good day all!
Thank you all for your kind words. We have a lovely community here (despite what a supermodel or two may think).
Rather rudely awoken this morning before 7.00 am by a small army of men arriving to change a neighbour's septic tank. The old one had to be pumped out and it was the noise of throaty sucking that brought me to. It is much cooler today ( 25°C) as there is a thin veil of cloud blocking out the sun, so have been making the most of it to get jobs done. Still no rain, and a farmer friend is getting desperate as his crops are wilting. Do any of you know the correct steps for a rain dance?
