I do indeed, didn't hear so much because I was always out on Friday nights after getting paid for the week
I used to listen to John Peel too - without whom I'd have never heard so many great bands. Most of the bands I've posted as "unheard of" are '90s American pop punk bands, heavily influenced by the Ramones. I strayed across them searching iTunes for bands of this genre - and was amazed to find so many great ones who'd had no commercial success. Like these:
just joined their streaming service (free for 3 months) which feeds me new albums every day. Enjoying it at the minute - though not sure I'll be as keen when its £10 a month!
Loved John Peel, unfortunately there's no-one of his calibre about at the moment. I listen to online radio, either Amazing Radio or XFM (if you live in the right area you can get XFM on non-digital - London, Manchester and Glasgow). I download playlists monthly and sift through them to find tracks that I like... http://theindierockplaylist.com/playlists http://www.birp.fm/playlist/2015 I also got to alternative festivals and pick up new acts from there too......
Time for a Brotherhood of Man track perhaps.... You guys have widened my musical horizons and I thank you. Mrs not so keen and bemused at lots of CDs arriving in post, can't win them all
