Lee Nelson is nothing like his real persona!!
Its not like when an actor or musician invents a cooler sounding name to boost popularity.
He is playing a character ffs.

I have to agree with Bod on this.
I have no idea who this mush is, but after googling him it appears that Lee Nelson is indeed a character he plays, and not a stage name.
There is a difference.

I don't agree. He's known as Lee Nelson he doesn't play him. And a lot of comedians are nothing like their stage persona in their everyday lives. Sacha Baron Cohen is known as Ali G. I've never heard anyone say he plays Ali G - maybe it's just a cockney thing [although Ali G has actually played parts in films so maybe not a good comparison but nevertheless I've still never heard anyone say he plays the part of Ali G. Thinking about it though, I have heard someone say Borat is played by Ali G ].

If you create a character, a persona, an alter ego, which is what he did, you're known as that character, persona ..... because nobody knows the real you. People seeing him out shopping [not me!!] will say oh look there's Lee Nelson because that's who he's known as. It's not like a character from a soap were everyone knows they have a real name besides their character name, it's completely different.

 

I now know that, having never heard of him before this thread. The point is most people only know him as Lee Nelson and wouldn't have a clue that it isn't really him and not just a character he's created. My [for 'my' read Gerrez] point is, he's known as Lee Nelson. I don't think G [who has heard of him] thought for one minute he was 'real'.

 

My only point was that Bod was perfectly correct to say "The comedian guy who plays Lee Nelson."
